Chapter 22: Melting

Natsu's P.O.V
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked with upmost concern.
"Yes, I promise." She smiled sweetly towards him.
"Let me make it better." He stalked towards her slowly.

Casting his eyes downward he then saw it.
"Lucy!" He panicked and ran for something to stop the bleeding.
"What are you doing, Natsu?" She sat up but then quickly retreated as she flinched in pain.
"Don't move." He attempted to place a nearly burnt cloth on her hips but dropped it when he saw his own hands.
"Natsu?" She called to him as he continued to stare down.
"I hurt you again." His hands were manifested with thick, sharp claws, coated in blood.
"What? No- You didn't mean to, I'm fine!" She wrapped the cloth around her hips.
"See it's okay now." She grabbed one of his hands.
"I'm sorry Lucy." He carefully pulled his hand away.
The flames burned dimly as he backed away.
"Natsu..?" He could see the pain in her eyes.
"I don't know what is wrong with me." He held his head.
"Your horns are even bigger now." Lucy carefully got up and limped slowly towards him, not reacting to the nearly melted floor.
"Lucy don't-"
"Natsu." She cut him off with her forthright tone.
Placing his hands behind his back, he looked down at his wife.
"Don't run away from me, I'm fine." She hugged him as she spoke.
"I don't know what is happening to you, but I do know we can get through this..together." He realized he had hurt her more emotionally as he felt his chest soak with her tears.
"Lucy." He ever so kindly wrapped his arms around her small frame.
"Thank you for staying by my side." He placed his forehead against hers.
With tears welled up in her eyes, she smiled peacefully.
"We can get through this, I'm sure of it."
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine, Natsu."
"Are you sure? Are you still bleeding?"
"No no. I'm perfectly content."
"Any burns?"
"N- well I don't think so."
"Hmm."
"I think the house is more vital."
"..."
"We will fix it, don't worry. Like old times." She smiled and looked around the familiarly desolate castle.
"Now both sides are ruined." He pouted.
Kissing his cheek softly, she pulled him towards the bed that some how survived the waves of fire. He looped his arms protectively around her waist, snuggling close.
"Just like old times." He echoed.
