Chapter 10 Sirens

(Lola's POV)

I couldnt believe it! This couldn't actually be happening, right now

I had actually forgotten about my mom! What the hell was wrong with me?

I was too busy worrying about myself, that I had completely ignored that fact, that my mother was sick and alone, barely being about to move

She was so sick, that she couldn't even move and I was oblivious to that fact

I wasn't more than a mile from my home, when I heard sirens

Loud, blaring, heart dropping, blood freezing, breath stopping, sirens

Frederick's hand, quickly darted over mine, protectively

I turned to look at him and he had the same look on his face, I imagined, I had on mine

My heart felt as if it could jump out from my chest

"Mom" I whispered, as we got closer to my home

Sure enough, there was a huge ambulance truck, parked outside of my house, with police cars, all around it

Before Freddy had actually stopped the car, I jumped out and ran towards the entrance of my house

I had to push past all the police and paramedics, surrounding my home

A group people had gathered outside of the house, trying to find out what was going on. They were all whispering in murmuring, as if they knew what had happened. But nobody knew, not even I knew

"Miss, you can't go in there!" One of the police men yelled, trying to stop me

One female officer, grabbed my arm and tried to pull me back

"You can't go in th-" she started, but I pushed her away and ran into my home

I looked around, trying to find my mom. It wasn't until I looked up the stairs, that I saw them

There were two men, pushing a gurney out of my mother's room

There were four men, trying to squeeze their way through the small path, that led them towards the entrance of the house

"Mom!" I called out, chaising after the paramedic's that was carrying my mother away from me "mom!" I shouted

From what I could see, her eyes were closed and her skin was a pale pasty color. She was worse, than she was a couple of hours ago, I could tell

But what had happened? Why did she get like this, in such a short time

"Mom!" I yelled, running after her

"Baby, baby, baby, slow down. We will go to the hospital! Everything will be alright" I felt Frederick's arms, wrap around my shoulders, holding me back from the paramedics, who were carrying my mom away

"My mom, Frederick. My mom is sick and she doesn't have much more time. M-my mom is dying, and there's nothing I can do" I cried out, covering his hand with my tiny one

I clenched my fingers, around his hand and squeezed

My legs, nearly gave out on me and I almost fell to the floor

"Hey, your mom will be okay. You don't have to worry about her financially. I will do everything I can. I will get her, the best doctors. The best medical assistance, we can find. We will fly her out if we need to. I will do everything humanly possible to save her, I promise, you can count on me." Frederick caught me, holding me tightly against his hard chest

"Frederick, what if we can't? What if we can't save her? What if it's too late?" I cried out, looking up at him

His face was blurry, through the tears, falling from my eyes

"Let's not dwell on 'what ifs?' It will only make this harder on everyone. Your mother will get better" he swore, running his hands over my back, while he used his other hand, to wipe away the tears in my eyes

I took a deep breath and nodded

"Let's go" I said, pulling away from the man, who was promising me something, that he knew he couldn't keep

We both got up, Frederick wrapping his arms around my waist, helping me walk towards his car

He opened and closed the for me

As he walked around the car, I closed my eyes

His intentions were kind, but he didn't know that my mother would be fine, he didn't know that she would survive this. Fredericks heart was kind, too kind. Nobody knew what was to come
