"IS THERE a river or a lake around here?!" Blue shouted. "Why would we know?!" Mason shouted back. "It's to late." Baylen replied, watching as the fire started spreading to brush and trees.

"Shit!" Vance yelled, grabbing Blues hand and pulling her to a run. Everyone else followed, some of them choking on the smoke.
The fire was quick to spread, burning everything in its path. "Doesn't this bring back memories?!" Mason asked sarcastically, running out of breath as he ran.

"Will you shut up?!" Sadie yelled back, passing him. Blue felt the sweat bead on her forehead, trickling down her face. Their legs felt like they were burning and the fire wasn't even on them.

Baylen tripped over a log, the fire gaining quickly. "Baylen!" Mason shouted, going back to pick him up. They started running again but the fire had already gotten closer.
"What are we supposed to do?!" Sadie shouted in hopes Blue or Vance would hear. "You think we know?!" Vance shouted back.

"Tree!" Mason shouted. They all looked to the left, watching as a large oak tree came crashing down with flames following. Blue let out a string of curse words.
They all jumped, in hopes it would land behind them. Unfortunately, Mason wasn't so lucky.

The tree had fell on his leg. He screamed in pain. The burning sensation along with inside pain. "Mason!" Sadie screamed as she stood up and ran to him.

Blue ran over, helping Sadie drag him out. Vance had helped to. Once he was out, everyone felt like their lungs were on fire. The flames had spread even more and they were almost surrounded.
Vance somehow managed to put him on his back, continuing to run but with the extra weight, it was slowing him down.

There was a small clearing where the fire hadn't touched yet. They all ran as fast as they could, barely making it through the clearing.
The five of them ran and ran until they made it to a road. Cars were driving at lighting speed to try and evacuate the woods as fast as possible.

The flames were right behind them as they shouted for people to pick them up. "Someone, please!" They shouted, waving their hands.

Soon enough, a blonde haired man pulled up besides them. "Get in!" He shouted, unlocking the doors.
They did as told, climbing in. Mason was in complete pain, practically screaming every time his leg got touched.

Blue got in the front seat while Vance and Sadie helped Mason into the back. Baylen squeezed in next to Sadie and as soon as the door was shut, the truck pulled off.

"What's going on?!" He shouted, shock covering his entire face. "Just go!" They all shouted. "Nearest hospital!" Sadie yelled.
The fire was spreading onto the road now but they didn't care. All they wanted for Mason to be okay.

Hours later, they had pulled up to a hospital. The entire car ride was miserable. Mason was crying the entire time and everyone else had to be bombarded with questions from the driver.

In present time, Mason was in the emergency room, getting his wound treated. The doctor came out, looking at Sadie, Vance, Blue, and Baylen.
"Good news, he will be okay." Everyone let out a sigh of relief and Sadie just about cried.

"Bad news, he has a massive burn on his left calf and the same leg is broken." Everyone nodded. "When do you think he'll be able to walk again?" Sadie asked anxiously biting on her nails.

"I don't know, kid. The burn will have to be treated for a long time and we can't put a cast over it until it's healed." Sadie looked back at Vance and Blue.
"But, you can go in and see him." The doctor smiled, walking down the hall. Without hesitation, they all ran in.

"Hey y'all." Mason smiled tiredly, waving at them. "Hey buddy." Vance said, going over to the other side of his hospital bed with Blue.
"Mason, I want to say I'm sorry. So very sorry." Blue apologized, placing her hand on his. "Why?" He asked with a laugh.

"Because, if I would've just gone to Vance's cabin instead you wouldn't even be in this situation. I put you in danger." She whispered, ashamed of herself.

"Bullet, I let you stay. You're like a little sister to me. I would never be mad at you. My lazy ass should've ran faster." He smiled lazily. Everyone laughed at his last sentence.
"Still, I'm sorry." He squeezed her hand. "It's okay." Sadie smiled at the two. Once Blue pulled her hand away she hugged Vance, stuffing her face into his chest.

He returned it, silently being happy it was Mason in the bed and not Blue. It sounds rude but he rather keep his girl safe than someone he barely knew.

Sadie looked down at Mason. "Hi." She smiled. "Hey." He smiled back. "We're glad you're okay." Baylen chimed in. Blue gave him a look that said "Let them have their moment."
"Thanks man." And with that, Baylen walked outside, Vance and Blue following.

"I'm glad you're okay." The blonde smiled, carefully sitting next to him. "Thanks. I would probably be dead right now if it wasn't for you." He smiled softly.
Sadie looked at the floor, silence engulfing the room. "Hey." He said, grabbing her hand. She looked at him.

"I said I needed to talk when you came back a few days ago and I never got to." She nodded at his words. He sat up carefully, admiring her.

"Sadie, I'm sorry for always ghosting you. I don't call, I don't talk, I don't... Listen, all I'm trying to say is that, I'm scared. I'm scared of commitment. After my mom left my dad, I thought love was a stupid thing. I didn't believe in it. After our hookups, I loved it. I loved you." Her heart pounded in her chest as he spoke.

"I still do. I love you Sadie Jacobs." Sadie's cheeks ignited into a deep red color and she didn't know what to do. She wasn't even thinking as she pressed her lips against his.
He instantly returned it, putting a hand against her cheek. Sadie pulled away. "I love you, Mason Brown." The two kissed again until clapping was heard from outside the room.

The two pulled apart, looking through the window. The three of them were cheering until they got shut up by some passing nurses.

They laughed and looked at each other again. "I never thought I'd confess my love in a hospital room." They laughed again as he spoke.
The nurse walked in, smiling at the two. "Young love. You two are very special people." She smiled, placing a tray of food next to his bed.

The couple smiled as she left. Mason looked at the hospital food. "No way am I eating that." He laughed, leaning his head against the pillow

"We'll go get you actual human food." Sadie laughed, kissing his forehead before getting up. They said their goodbyes and she left the room to let him rest.

"We're talking about that later." Blue whispered to her and winked. "One nurse was on our ass about taking a shower." Baylen told Sadie as they walked into the elevator.
"Might as well take it. We're miles away from both of our homes." She answered, hitting the button. "I guess." He shrugged.
