Soon they're on the road, Aang drove while Katara shifts comfortably in the passenger seat, giving Aang directions. She leans forward and switches the radio on, tuning it to her favourite country station.

Katara begins humming along to the music. There's something carefree about the notes as they fall into the salty air around her. Aang unknowingly has a small smile across his mouth with no intention of disturbing her, soaking in the sound that fills in the car. His lips, the ones that really didn't want to smile tonight, creep into a grin.

"Why aren't you curious about my father?" She suddenly asks.

Aang briefly glances at her as she continues to hum along with the music and then brings his eyes back to the road.

"I'm sure you were curious as to why I said my father is also interested in the power of the Avatar. Yet, you didn't raise any questions about him. May I ask why?" She cocks her head and looks at him, his brows furrow as he thinks.

He hesitates, searching Katara's face before he turns back to the road. "What game are you playing at?"

Katara gives him a wolfish smirk. "What game do you think?"

Aang lock eyes with Katara for a brief moment, who's totally confident in her domain. With one hand on the wheel, he strokes his chin with a gleam in his eyes as raw, masculine heat sizzles off him.

"I didn't ask questions because of your relationship with him." His eyes lock onto hers, and Katara can sense some promise in their depths. "And I don't want to intrude in a matter that's not revolved around Gyatso."

Katara's eyes brighten with softness. He gives her a steamy look and, for what feels like the first time, her heart pounds so hard she wonders if it will burst out of her chest.

No decent guy would want to associate themselves with her, let alone her family. If they did, they must be truly insane or out of their minds. Yet, Aang was the first one to stay this long. Maybe also the only one who can help her escape from her miserable life.

Katara gives him a grateful nod. "You haven't earned the juicy bits yet, but I suppose I can spare a few details." She sighs while crossing her legs.

Aang's mouth twists in a tiny smile. "But by all means, if you want, feel free to vent." He shrugs.

The waterbender looks up into Aang's serious gaze. She clears her throat as she looks out of the window, confused at how close she feels to him at the moment.
