𝐚 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞"Good morning, citizens of Republic City!
The sun finally shines down upon us as the typical city rush hour commences." The radio plays. "It's your favourite daybreak hosts, Xuhung and Sha Mon! So, volumes up and stressors down!"Katara stifles a laugh while she sat in her office, her eyes trained on her laptop screen as she scrolled through her files. She taps her pen impatiently as she groans at the papers sitting on her desk.
Her phone began to ring and she glances at the screen. She reads her stepmother's name and instantly declines the call, ensuring to block her number. She nearly yelled in frustration when somebody strode into her office.
"Wow, someone's busy." A whistling sound follows.
Hearing that deep, low voice before her, Katara looks over her laptop screen to catch sight of Aang standing by the doorframe, his eyes bright with boredom. "You called?" He asks as he enters the room, stopping near Katara's desk.
Katara hums, turning off the radio, and focusing her attention solely on him. "Yes, I thought you could stop by so we can chat~" She pulls out a gun and lays it on her desk for Aang to see. "This is yours."
"Are you being serious?" Aang walks toward the desk, taking hold of the gun as he examines it. "And what would I need a gun for? To keep it for decoration?"
Katara narrows her eyes. "If I was able to recognise you with a blink of an eye then anyone can." She flashes a fake smile. "Just take it. We can't risk your cover being blown."
Aang takes the gun and Katara hands him a black credit card, along with a mobile phone and a gold key. He shoots her a baffled look and Katara shrugs her shoulders, acting dull.
Aang cocks an eyebrow but doesn't question further. "You're going to be a pain in my ass, aren't you, Katara?" He mutters as he stuffs the gun in the belt of his trousers, covering it with his shirt.
"You are so welcome." She remarks with a tinge of irony while Aang shoves the remaining items into his pockets.
"Whatever." Aang jerked his head in dismay and makes his way toward the door, then abruptly hesitates. His eyebrows are furrowed, plagued with strain as he zones out in space, deciding whether to speak out or not.
The young woman cocks her head to one side, confused. "Are you lost?"
The airbender swirls back, palming the back of his neck awkwardly. "Listen... Just to make it clear, you and I will be working together, and that means no keeping secrets." He gestures the distance between him and her.
