𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮Once they found a free table, Sokka sat back in his seat, mind swirling with doubt and confusion while Aang took a deep breath. "That was quite tense." He clears his throat, unsure if it was his place to ask any questions. "I'm presuming something happened between you two?"
Sokka lets out a soft sigh. "Well, we all have our wounds." He pours himself some vodka into an oversized glass. "Just like how we all have our histories. The things that made us who we are."
"And what are your wounds, if I may ask?"
The young cop takes large swings of vodka before answering, wincing at the burning sensation that was happening at the back of his throat. "We used to date, well, until two years ago that is..." Sokka's tongue sticks to the roof of his mouth for a brief moment. "She was my fiancée."
The memories of that summer came as divine deja vu. Right after they broke up, Sokka was such a mess that all he wanted to do was get back to her. But as time passed, he realised that it wouldn't work out, regardless of giving his best shot.
And looking at Suki now, Sokka just can't see them being a couple anymore. She seemed happy and he was too. Yet, after all these years of forcing himself to forget about her, Sokka felt the same exact feelings as back then.
"Dude." Aang said, snapping his fingers in front of Sokka's face.
"Huh?" Sokka replied, looking back at Aang.
"Just speak to her. You'll regret it if you don't."
Was he right? Sokka thought. He was playing countless scenarios in his head. "I don't think I can speak to her man, she hates me. Plus, our breakup– it was bad."
Aang began to think what the cause of the breakup was, it sounded intense and Sokka seems to have no intentions of going anywhere near her. Perhaps he lied to her, stole something very important to her, or–
"Did you... cheat on her?" Aang guessed, looking him in the eye.
"No. No, of course not." Sokka clarified. "I wouldn't do such a thing." He said, groaning while running his hands over his face.
Aang smirked, looking between Sokka and Suki. Katara was taking even more shots while Suki scolded her, yet laughed at her at the same time. Katara started to feel wavy and giggly, holding onto Suki, telling her how much she was her best friend.
He glances over at Katara, not realising the smile forming on his face when he catches a glimpse of her laughing and swaying.
"Are you checking my sister out?!" Sokka snaps him out of his thoughts.
