I ran ahead with Rick towards a farm as Shane and the hunter trailed behind us. If it wasn't for that fat tub of lard, we could've kept looking for Sophia and gotten back before nightfall. But if these people were willing to help the boy, they could help Alyssa.
Now
I sat outside waiting on the porch for Shane to go on a medical supply run for Carl. I stared out across the field in a daze when someone sat down next to me. "You okay?" I turned my head and noticed it was one of the farmers daughters, the one with short brown hair. I gave a slight chuckle "what the hell do you expect? A kid's bleeding out in there, another's missing, and one of my best friends is close to death". I stared at her, after a long pause, she returned my gaze "so you blame yourself?" I felt myself frown before I flung up from my spot and made my way toward the blue truck we were gonna use for the run. I sat myself in the passenger seat before I slammed the door shut. I sat there in anger until Shane and Otis came out and made our way to the high school. Was she right?
We pulled into the parking lot with the cover of night to shield us from the sight of dozens of walkers. I hopped out of the truck and crouched down as I made my way towards an abandoned cop car. Shane was the first to talk "alright, where to?" Otis poked his head over the roof of the car and nodded in the direction of a white trailer surrounded by dozens of walkers. I shook my head in frustration and began loading up my guns, muttering to myself "great, another crowd of brainless shit-for-brains" Shane shook his head "Nah, we can't shoot our way through, I gotta better idea". He shuffled toward the driver side of the car and slowly popped open the door, then opened the trunk. I followed him to the back and watched as he grabbed a couple of flares. I gave a slight smile, "good goin' ". He handed one flare to Otis and I while explaining the plan. "Alright, we throw these over there to the far left, when the walkers chase after them, we make a run for the trailer. In and out, got that?" Otis and I gave a nod in agreement. "Alright, on three. One. Two. Three!" We flung our flares over head as far from the trailer, but as close to the walkers, as we could. Once they shuffled off, I made a run for the trailer with my guns at ready. The door opened with ease and began grabbing anything and everything of value. Otis began naming out things we needed for Carl's surgery as we grabbed two of everything. I ended up grabbing extra gauzes, medical tape, and even found a bottle of pain killers. Once we grabbed what we needed, Otis flung the door open. To our horror, we were met by dozens of dead eyes staring at us with a craving for our flesh. It was Shane who shoved us out of the trailer shout at us "Otis fallow me! T, make your way to the truck and wait for us, we'll draw them away!" I nodded in agreement as he handed me the key. I was trained well by my brother in stealth combat before he got deployed. I ran to the side of the trailer and climbed to the roof of it as Otis and Shane turned the corner of the school and led the walkers away.
I decided to wait for 2 minutes before I made my way toward the truck. I flung my bag in the back seat and started up the truck. The more I waited, the more I got worried. Finally, I turned off the truck, locked the door, and ran back toward where I last saw them. I heard them before I saw them. As I turned the corner, I froze in place at the whole scene. I first noticed Shane holding both bags, his gun held out toward Otis and pulled the trigger. "What the hell!?" I shouted. Then, the walkers came and began to tear him apart as he screamed in pain. Shane ran with a limp toward me out of breath "He told me to go on without him, I've got the supplies! Let's go!" Did he not see me?
I decided to go along with it as we ran toward the truck. Once we pulled out onto the main road, he began the celebrate "we got the supplies! He's gonna make it!" I sat there in anger, how could he celebrate when he just killed a man? "I know what you did, but I ain't gonna tell, frankly I could care less, but if you think for a second that what you did is justified, then your worse than the walkers, watch your back." He seemed shocked at first at what I said, but he just smiled and said "I know you won't tell, not with your friend in the shape she's in. It'd be a shame if we didn't have the supplies to save her." I stared at him in anger and hatred. I held onto my pistol tight in my right hand under my leg ready to shoot him, but I knew now wasn't the time, especially since Rick could have me killed for killing his friend.
