(Simone's P.O.V.)
1 day later
I kept pacing the room to calm my nerves, it's been a day since we came to the farm and Alyssa finally got treated by Hershel and his people. I stopped pacing and looked at her. She was still in the same clothes as yesterday, the only difference was her hair. They had to shave the hair surrounding the wound on her head, now that area had bandages around the stitching. I whispered to myself "Come on, please you gotta wake up".
Suddenly, T and the man, who I learned was Daryl, came into the room.
"Hey Simone, it's time to wa- your still awake?!" Exclaimed T as she came over and hugged me. "You gotta get out of this house! Why don't you come with me and look for Sophia? We could use all of the help we can get". Before I could answer, Daryl spoke in a friendly manner "I can watch over Lys here" I looked at him with slight curiosity. Why would he offer to do something like this? I thought he was the loner. I looked at T and gave a slight nod "okay". She gave a small smile before she'd spoke "awesome, don't worry. She'll be fine. I'm sure she'll wake up sometime tomorrow, Hershel said she might". I felt my smile fade "Then shouldn't we be here when that happens? What if she freaks out when she doesn't see us?" I began rambling in worry before T put her hands on my shoulders and talked me down "hey hey hey, don't you think I already know that?" She leaned close to my ear "we have to talk, Shane is dangerous, Daryl's her guard for now, fallow me". I felt my jaw drop and my eyes widen. How could Shane be dangerous? He helped us back at the high way and got Alyssa some of the medical supplies! But I nodded and followed her out the door, outside of the farm and towards forest line.
After two minutes of walking in silence, we came to a stop and T turned towards me "Alright, so here's what happened. One of Hershel's men named Otis, Shane, and I went to a high school where there was a medical trailer from the military with the supplies needed for both procedures. We had to split up at one point and I made my way back to the truck. After some time, I went out to look for them, and I saw Shane pull out his gun and shoot Otis in the leg. He left him as bait to the walkers so he could get his sorry ass out of there!" By then her face was red and twisted in anger. Then she started again "Then he was celebrating like a damn kid in the truck on the way back. I said I wouldn't tell anyone at the time because I knew we had to get back with the supplies, then he threatened Alyssa with not having the supplies to save her!" I frowned in shock. "So what now? We can't just leave, Lys has to rest and... We're practically part of the group. I think Rick really trusts us, especially now that you helped his boy". She put her hands on her hips and started to shift her weight from one leg to another. "I don't know. We still gotta find the girl. I owe that to her mother and myself. We'll stay for now, but we should really move on some time in the future". I said nothing, but gave a small nod. How can we leave? We owe these people a lot more than just a simple thank you and a few days of work. "Let's go back. I'm sure they have work for us to do". She shook her head "No, we're support to search around the area for walkers on the fence line in case there's a crowd" she explained as she tossed me my machete and an extra pistol.
As we made our way to the fences, which were pretty far, I decided to change the subject. "So...... What do you think of the people in the group?" She gave a small smile "Aside from Shane, they all seem pretty nice." I nodded in agreement "yea, when Lys wakes up, she's going to love Dale. He reminds me so much of her dad.". She turned toward me with a larger smile "I know! Mr.Miller was so nice to us, we were practically his daughters." I felt my smile fade as I thought of something. "Do you think he's okay?". T stopped in herself and looked at the ground, she said in a low voice "if he's alive, great. If not, at least he doesn't have to feel pain. A man his age, I don't know. Don't go stressing yourself over that, it's not worth the heartache." She walked ahead of me, leaving me to my thoughts. Maybe she misses her brother? the last time she heard from him was when he was home from deployment and he went to see his wife and kids in Texas before coming to Chicago. I looked up from my thoughts and walked the fence line with T.
There's no way of letting go of the ones you loose, they're still there. You just make room for more to come.
