(Simone's P.O.V.)
Where am I? How did I get here? I looked around. There's was nothing but open land. Am I in some prairie? I tried to walk, but I could move, but I was standing. I realized that I couldn't move at all! I looked around frantically, but there's nothing! Then I felt something walking behind me. Then there was a face, something that would've knocked me over if I could move. It was Alyssa! She stood in front of me now, smiling. But I realized something that shook me to my boots. The gash on her head was still on her head, blood flowing down her neck, then her shirt. "You could've helped me!" She wailed "This is your fault! Why did you let me shoot the pump!? You could've stopped me, now I'm dying! IT SHOULD'VE BEEN YOU!!!"
I flung up from floor in a cold sweat. It was only a dream. I realized I was in the R.V. When I saw Alyssa on the bed. I walked over to the right side and checked her bandages. Before I lifted the bandaged I realized that she's stopped bleeding through the bandages, which was an improvement. I pulled the bandage back and gasped in horror. Instead of blood, the gash was encased in a thick layer of green pus, the surrounding hair on jar scalp was in a desperate need of a washing. I placed the bandage back over the gash and placed my hands on my knees, suddenly being short of breath. All I can think about was the dream and what she'd said "It should've been you!!!"
In my state of panic, I didn't notice that Dale had walked into the camper until he spoke to me, making me jump a little. "Oh good! Your up. It's near noon" he said with a slight smile while holding up his wrist to show me his watch. I gave a slight nod, shakily saying "yea, I'm sorry that we kinda stole your bed". I nodded toward Alyssa. He shook his head, putting up his hand "Now don't go worrying yourself over that, I'm glad to help as best as I can. It's important to show that not everyone's lost their humanity." He walked over to my side, putting his hand on my shoulder in a reassuring way. I couldn't help but think that he reminded me of Alyssa's father. He was an older man and always away on business. But whenever he was home, he always had Alyssa invite Theresa and I over to their house and have game nights. I looked up at Dale and gave a small smile "you know, if Alyssa wakes up, she's going to love to get to know you." He gave me another reassuring smile and gentle pat on the shoulder "you mean when she wakes up. From what your friend T told me last night, she seems like a fighter. Trust me, she wouldn't leave her friends behind." I then realized that I hadn't seen Theresa since yesterday when she came back from looking for Carols daughter. When I asked him where T was, he gave a small frown "She and the others left to go find Sophia. I'm afraid it's just you, me, her, and T-dog, they left about an hour ago. Theresa said she didn't want Alyssa here to be all by herself if she'd woken up." I gave a small nod. I took another look at her before I got to my feet and made my away outside the R.V. I looked toward T-Dog just to my left. He was wrapped in a blanket sitting half conscious against the R.V. I looked at Dale and asked "what happened?" He began to shake his head "poor guy cut his arm real bad when the herd had passed through yesterday. Like your friend in there, he may be dealing with a serious infection if we don't find some more antibiotics soon." I looked at T-Dog again, then scoped out the abandoned cars, maybe there were some medicine in these cars. Before I could make my way to the first car, Dale called after me "No need to strain yourself, we checked these cars already before Shane spotted you yesterday." I have a slight groan and sat next to T-Dog. I began to think about the dream again. It's almost as if I could head her screams of anger and despair. I close my eyes and tried to concentrate.
Before I could do that, Dale announced from some distance away "they're back!" I flung up to my feet and ran toward Dale was, but shocked at what I saw. There was only Carol, the blonde woman, the Asian guy, and the man with the crossbow. Before I could ask where the others were, Dale beat me to it. The boy in the cap explained. Apparently, the group split up. Theresa, Shane, Rick, and his boy kept looking for the girl. As the others were making their way back here, a girl came on a house and told Lori her boy's been shot. When the man with the crossbow finish explaining, I crossed my arms over my chest and stared at him with pleading eyes "Did she tell you where their farm was? If they're willing to help Carl, then they can help Alyssa."
But before he could respond, the blonde shook her head angrily and walked up to my face. Her eyes were full of pure hatred and slightly covered with traces of blonde hair and blood. "Who the hell said you were coming with us. You and your ass of a friend led that herd to us, your half dead friend's the reason why Sophia's gone!" I shook with anger, I didn't even realize what I was doing until I felt my right fist connect with her jaw, sending her to the ground. I felt myself being restrained by Dale before I could kick the side of her head. "Don't listen to her, we'll get your friend the help she needs, I promise." I thought it was Dale who'd said that, but it was the crossbow guy. I nodded my head and made my way inside the camper and planted myself next to the bed. I gently gripped Alyssa's and whispered to her "You're gonna be okay, we're gonna get you help." I felt tears prickle my eyes, but they weren't from sadness. I looked down at my right hand and saw my knuckles slightly scratched with blood and had begun to show brusing.
Did I do that?
