RUN BOY RUN

"You've gotta be fucking kidding me."

ME AND FIVE MADE our way back to academy, jumping there quickly. Landing in Five's bedroom, I sigh.

"I've never seen the inside of your house before. This is something new." Chuckling, I opened the door to the boy's room and made my way out, him following behind me.

Soon, we were walking side by side, me following wherever he was going. This house was so big.

Sooner or later we found the person we were looking for, Klaus Hargreeves.

"Ahh mi hermano! How very nice of you to pay a visit to your dear old brother." The man before me placed a hand on his chest, he seemed quite overdramatic.

I can't help but feel as though I've met him before.

Eyes widening in realisation, I sputtered in disbelief. "You've gotta be fucking kidding me." Klaus' eyes made their way to my form, widening as well.

"Estelle!" He beamed, rushing over and engulfing me in a tight hug. I quickly pushed him off, glaring at him. "No physical contact, remember? I hate it." He nodded, the smile never leaving his face.

"How exactly do you two know each other?" Five looked between us confusedly, his eyebrows scrunched and his eyes stern and stony. "I helped him escape the cops once."

Let's backtrack a sec, shall we?

I was wandering about, I had just bought myself some new clothes from Gimble Brothers when I heard sirens coming down the street, a scrawny and scraggly looking man running in my direction.

He saw me and sooner or later I was running with him, "what exactly did you do?" I asked, gasping for air as we leant against a wall in an alley, "And why the hell did you bring me with you? You don't know me!" He just sighed, crouching down against the wall.

"Was in the middle of a drug deal, got caught, the police chased me, yada yada. I brought you with me because I didn't want them stopping and arresting you instead. We're wearing quite similar outfits." He gestured down to his all black fit, and I looked down and noticed I was wearing something similar.

"I see." I nodded, making my way towards the edge of the alley. Police sirens.

I ran quickly towards the man, grabbing his arm and looking directly into his eyes. "Whatever you do, don't freak out. Trust me." He nodded, eyes wide with fear.

I jumped us to my home and he fell to the floor gasping for air. "That... was... horrible!" He coughed out, clutching his chest. "Sorry, haven't had too much practice over the years." He just stood up and sat at the kitchen counter.

"So, what's your name?" He asked, eyes trained on me now, "Estelle Pandora." He smiled slightly, "Your name is beautiful! I'm Klaus by the way, nice to meet you mi amigo." He held his hand out for me to shake and I did, hand reclining back as soon as the shake finished.

He cocked his head to the side in wonder and I simply said, "Physical touch. Not exactly my favourite thing in the world." He nodded understandingly and kept to himself. "You need a place to stay or are you wanting to stay here? I've got plenty of rooms around my house."

"You'd really let me stay here? I- I don't want to impose..." he seemed quite out of character now, my frown faltering, a small smile making its way onto my lips. I felt like I could relate to the man in some way. A fear of being alone, but being so abandoned. I could see it in his eyes.

"You can stay here for as long as you need, Klaus. I'm not a huge sucker for friends but I'm sure I'll warm up eventually." He smiled brightly at me across the table, jumping up and standing in front of me. "Is it okay if I give you a hug? I know you just said you don't like physical touch but-" I just shut him up by wrapping my arms around him and sighing slightly, trying to stop myself from imploding.

After that, Klaus stayed with me for around 2 months. He left at the start of 2017. We spent Christmas together and even got each other gifts. It was the first Christmas that I didn't feel so alone.

"I missed you, Klaus. Why didn't you come to visit?" His eyes were downcast and his tone changed quickly, "I thought you didn't want to see me again. Y'know, after the whole 'you've been here for two months why don't you get a job!' thing."

Placing a hand on his shoulder, I smiled up at him. He was a few inches taller than me. "I would've loved to spend another Christmas with you. Anyway, let's get to work. Five, you explain the plan to him while I go use the bathroom." I spotted a bathroom on the way to Klaus' room, so I simply retraced my steps and found it.

Sighing, a leaned against the door, tears welling in my eyes. I didn't understand why I was getting so emotional, it wasn't like me and Klaus had known each other for long... I guess it's just weird to see him after so long.

This is the reason why I don't make friends.

I was snapped out of my brooding moment when a knock sounded at the door, "Estelle... you okay in there?" The familiar voice of Five sounded. "Yeah, just give me a moment." I hit my head against the door softly, letting my eyes water all the wanted. When the waterworks finally ended, I grabbed a tissue and wiped my face clean. Turning on the tap to splash some water over my face a blue flash appeared behind me.

"You're not okay." Five grunted, grabbing my shoulder and spinning me around to face him. We were pretty close right now. Cute freckles.

I decided to just be weak for one moment, just one moment. I may seem like I hate Five, but he was my only source of comfort throughout my teenage years, and now that he's back I feel like I can be vulnerable again.

I just laid my forehead on his chest and sighed. "Klaus stayed with me for two months after I helped him escape a failed drug deal. I tried to help him all I could to quit, to get a job, to be productive... but he wouldn't listen. I often caught him talking to himself or just passed out from too many drugs on my couch. It was terrifying. I never kicked him out, he decided to leave. He was a friend... I think. So it was painful to see him again after he completely left me. Brought back memories of you."

Five placed his chin on the back of my head cautiously, wrapping his arms around me in a soft hug. "I understand. When this is all over, we can start over. We can be friends without the letters. We can just be... reckless teens with nothing better to do." I laughed as more tears formed and fell, I soon wrapped my arms around the Hargreeves boy, my face going into the crook of his neck.

"Thank you, Five."

"It's not a problem Estelle."

I may have hated physical touch, but right now I was content.
