Chapter 14: King Lucas

Going to sleep with her next to me was amazing, but waking up with her next to me was even better. I watched her sleep blissfully unaware that I was already awake. I dare not move afraid of waking her, sadly my bladder had other plans for my morning, and I inwardly groaned. I slowly started to pull my arm out from under her head. Ametrine started to stir and I halted my movements, once she was still again I continued to pull my arm out. Then she grabbed my arm like it was a pillow.

Think you can get away that easily? She asked with her eyes still closed.

I have to go to the bathroom little princess. She giggled as she released me and lifted her head. I rushed to the bathroom with her laughter following behind me. Once I relieved myself I went to wash my hands but heard Ametrine scream. I rushed out of the bathroom to find Raven sitting on my bed glaring at my little princess.

Raven down boy! Ametrine is good. See? I showed my familiar who happened to be an almost fully grown hell hound that Ametrine wasnt an intruder by walking to her slowly and pulling her into my arms. Raven jumped out of the bed and came over and sniffed her hand, then started to lick her like crazy.

Okay down boy! Shes mine! I said while laughing.

You okay little princess?

Im fine just a little shook. He scared the shit out of me. Ametrine said still holding onto me tightly.

Why dont you get dressed and we can head to check on Rosella. She perked up at this and rushed to her closet. She dressed in a red knee high day dress matched with black pumps and her what Im now seeing as her favorite black tiara. I dressed in black slacks and a black polo with my day Nikes. Once we were dressed, I showed her the way to the twins room.

Your castle is beautiful. I just wish shimmer was here.

Who is shimmer?

Shes my familiar unicorn. She doesnt do well with travel.

Then its good thing that your brother had the idea to bribe her the whole way here. King Topaz said from behind us.

Really?! Ametrine was glowing. I know how hard it was for me to be away from Raven on my mission, so I understand why they made sure Shimmer made the journey.

Yes, my dear! He knows how much you like taking her for a ride every day! Queen Jade confirmed. Ametrine squealed and hugged her parents.

Remind me to thank him once we are done checking on Rosella. Will you Lucas? She asked me.

Of course, little princess! Her smile was bright but faded as we walked up to Rosellas and Roseannes room. We knocked and Roseanne answered the door.

She wont get out of bed. Roseanne whispered. We quietly walked in, and I stayed by the door in case she wanted me to leave.

Ella how are you doing? Ametrine almost cooed. Rosella rolled over to look at her and you could tell she didnt sleep a wink last night.

Ive been better.

We found a solution that doesnt involve marriage. At this Rosella sat up.

You did? I nodded my head along with Ametrine.

We can have your mother take the throne until she can change the law and then you can take the throne by yourself until you are ready to marry in your own time. Rosella thought on this.

No? We all asked at once.

No. My mother is in no state to rule shes too damaged from my fathers abuse. If I have to marry I will but that just means I have two weeks to find a groom who not just me but everyone agrees upon and who respects my boundaries!
