Hello everybody. So recently I hit 200 readers. It may not be that much, but to me I am so happy that people are enjoying my work. Thank you all so much! All of my love!

Race, Lucky and I began walking to Manhattan. Race said that it would be a long walk so he would carry me if needed. (A/N I dont know if yall forgot about her leg, so it's not fully healed yet that's why Race said he would carry her.)

After at least an hour of walking I was tired and my leg hurt. I grabbed Race's arm. He looked at me already knowing what was wrong and picked me up before I could say a word. Lucky giggled and skipped ahead. It was beginning to get dark. Since the sun was setting, it was getting colder too. I was freezing. Race noticed, he held me tighter.

"We're almost there." He reassured me, speeding up his steps. Soon enough we arrived at the Manhattan lodging house. Race opened the door and Lucky ran in. He sprinted upstairs screaming,

"Les, Les come down hea!" Lucky was running around, practically bouncing. A small boy ran out from a room downstairs and looked around.

"Lucky? Lucky where are you?" The boy looked upstairs and saw Lucky. They barely made eye contact for half a second before they sprinted towards each other. They joined in a hug, bouncing in circles. More boys came out of the room, one running and yelling.

"Les where did you go?" The boy looked worried. The small boy and Lucky started laughing. When the older boy saw him he smiled. "Oh hey Lucky."

"Hiya Davey!" Lucky waved. The boys behind Davey smiled after hearing Lucky's name, but their smiles turned into confused faces when they saw me in Race's arms. One redheaded boy stepped forward.

"Uh Race I didn't know you liked pickin' up girls." All the boys behind him burst out laughing and Race looked annoyed.

"Thanks Albert." Albert tipped an imaginary hat. Race put me down and held my hand. He could tell I was a bit scared. It seemed Race could tell everything that I was feeling. Lucky and the smaller boy ran up to me.

"Birdie, this is Les, Les this is Birdie." Les smiled at me. I nodded back. Race led me towards the other boys.

"Alright Birdie, these are the Manhattan Newsies" I was greeted with a chorus of Hello's and Whats up's. But none were paying attention whatsoever. 3 of the boys (Including Albert and Davey) stepped towards me. I hid behind Race. Race looked down at me and smiled lightly, gently pushing me back in front. I stood there clutching my bag for dear life and staring at my shoes. One of the boys stepped forwards and squatted down in front of me.

"Hello," The boy smiled. "My name's Jack, Jack Kelly." He stuck out his hand. I didn't shake it. Jack awkwardly pulled his hand back, a few snickers coming from the crowd behind him. "Yer names Birdie right?" I nodded, still looking at my feet. "That's a great name! I wish that was mine." His smile grew wider. I looked up at him.

"Really?" I whispered. He was taken aback, but only just for a moment.

"Of course," He nodded "Instead I'm just Jack." He looked down sadly. I didn't want him to feel bad, so I gave him a quick hug.

"It's ok, I like your name" I smiled at him. Once again he looked shocked, but this time he did not recover as quickly. Another boy walked up to us. I immediately looked down again. Jack stood up and Race took a step away. I looked at him and he nodded. I looked at the boy in front. He had a wide smile on his face, but that wasn't the only thing. The boy also had a crutch. I looked at his leg, then looked at mine. Mine wasn't as bad but was wrapped in bandages. I looked up at him. He smiled down at me. He wasn't as tall as the other boys, but he was at least 2 feet taller than me.

"Hey, why don't we introduce ourselves," Jack interrupted. All the other boys took a few steps forward. The boy with the crutch started moving back towards the crowd. I didn't want him to leave. He seemed really nice. I instinctively grabbed his arm. He stopped and looked back at me.

I let go.

"S-sorry." I apologize quietly. His smile returned and he took my hand.

"It's ok." He reassured me. Race stepped back allowing me to move with the boy. He had a huge smile plastered on his face, and so did all the others. Jack took a step forward and turned around so he was facing the crowd, but also hiding me from the others.

"Today is a big day, a momentous ocas-" Jack was cut off by one of the Newsies.

"Jack, why do ya sound like one of them slummers?" All the Newsies laughed, But the boy who asked still looked puzzled.

"Thanks Elmer," Jack responded, laughing with the others. "Anyway, today we found out dat Brooklyn gots a new Newsie," Murmurs grew from the crowd. He stepped out of the way, presenting me dramatically "Hea she is." Some of the boys looked surprised while others looked excited and happy. Once again I was looking at my shoes. All the eyes made me uncomfortable. Race stepped next to Jack, and pulled me with him. The boy with the crutch went to the other side of Jack. "Boys," Jack grabbed the Newsies attention. "This is Birdie." Once again I was greeted with Hello's and Whats up's. I waved shyly, finally looking up from my shoes. As soon as I did, large smiles formed on Race and Jack's faces.

"Birdie, this" Jack waved a group of the boys forward. "Is Buttons, Ya know Elmer, Finch, Henry," After every name, the boy that was called would wave happily. "That's Mike and Ike, their twins. Jojo, Mush, Romeo, Specs and Tommyboy." Jack took a deep breath. The boys waved at me. Albert, Elmer and Jojo stepped towards Race and grabbed him. Race tried to push them off but they were ruthless. All these boys were so kind. This place was full of smiles, and happiness. I smiled and walked over to Lucky and Les to play.
