no matter how close y/n thought she was, she was always a bit too far from getting to the love of her life, jeon jungkook, aka her best friend.
when he comes back to korea after suddenly leaving her, why does he feel like he's slowly falling in love...
they stared at each other quietly before y/n cleared her throat and looked away.
"uh, hey y/n. find hyejin?" yoongi said and y/n looked back at him, shaking her head.
"no, i guess she's somewhere else." she said and jungkook just stared at her in awe while yoongi only nodded.
'she's so beautiful'
"ah y/n, can you do me a favor?" yoongi asked and y/n nodded immediately.
'please get me out of here!!' her body wanted to get as far away from the other male, not being able to handle seeing him so suddenly.
"can you please go get the drinks? i think they're in my car since you rode with me." y/n nodded but jungkook made her stop in her tracks as he cleared his throat.
"i'll, go with her. it's late out and it's not safe around here." he said and y/b turned around, smiling at the said boy.
"no worries, i'll be fine." she said but jungkook stood up quickly, following behind her.
"no no! i mean, it's been a while too, right? i think we could catch up a bit." he said while tilting his head a bit to the side, trying to persuade her.
sighing, y/n nodded, watching the now cheering boy as he fixed himself to go with her.
"wonderful! lemme just grab my phone-"
"kookie? who's this?" the voice made the two stop in their tracks as they both turned around to see who it was.
"jina babe, this is my old friend, y/n. remember her? my best friend from high school? and all the years before that?" whispering the last part to himself he looked at his girlfriend who gave a disgusted look to the other, eyeing what she was wearing.
"babe, why are you hanging out with her? she's not even dressed for the occasion. she tried to break us up baby!" jungkook looked at the said girl who only rolled her eyes.
"it's a high school reunion ms. park, i have a life and job, this is the least of my worries so im sorry if im not classy enough for your liking." y/n said as she eyed jungkook who hung his head low in disappointment.
"i'll be right back, and i don't need your assistance jungkook, you can go assist your girlfriend instead." y/n walked off after talking in a whisper, trying to not create drama in front of other people.

the whole night was spent with jungkook and jina on one side of the hall and yoongi with y/n on the other side.
obviously, yoongi was upset with jina for talking shit about someone so dear to him and jungkook for not even considering talking to his girlfriend.
"yoongs, i'm gonna go home now, i have to wake up early since my mom wants to have lunch with the song family." y/n said with a groan as yoongi laughed, remembering how much of as ass the Song family were.
"no worries, want me to drop off you to your house?" he asked and y/n shook her head while gathering her stuff.
"it's fine. i'll get a cab or walk, depends on how i feel once i get out." she laughed lightly and yoongi nodded.
"sure. i'll see you soon okay? call me if you need anything!" yoongi said as he saw the girls figure get smaller, seeing her hand lazily in the air drift onto her side as she walks out.
"babe, i'm gonna stay with my friend seol ah, remember her? i'll come back in the morning." jina said and jungkook smiled sadly. (a/n: yes i know, seol ah is from penthouse. i was running out of ideas for names)
"sure babe, have fun. i'll see you in the morning." he said and jina nodded while smiling as she walked away.
the boy decided it was time to go home, but he contemplating saying bye to yoongi, knowing he was with y/n and he was mad with the couple.
deciding against it, he walked out quietly, trying to not get noticed by anyone as he walked outside.
walking outside in the parking lot, his eyes caught onto a familiar figure who was waiting by the sidewalk.
"hey y/n! what're you doing?" jungkook said as he jogged up to the girl who looked back in confusion.
"nothing? i'm waiting for my uber. i'm going home." she said in a monotonous voice which made jungkook's insides twist in a weird way.
"ah... did you want a-"
"no."
"you didn't even let me-"
"no"
"y/n!!" jungkook whined and y/n eyed him weirdly.
"what's holding you back? i just wanna drop you off home and talk to you. it's been years."
"and jina? won't she be all disapproving?" y/n said with a voice so bitter it made jungkook cringe.
for multiple reasons though.
"she's staying with her friend, she'll be back by the morning." he said and y/n sighed.
"fine."
"yay!" he said with a cheerful voice as he (gently) dragged y/n to his car, opening the door for her and then going in himself after helping her.
boy he was excited for this.
