It was late when you had woken up. Your eyes handy fully opened but you could feel the warmth of the sun shine onto your skin decorated with the beams of light coming in though the small window in his bed room. You rolled over and greeted with a empty space. Blanket was neatly pulled down but no Javier. It was a Monday so he had probably went off to work. The files on his night stand where gone, you where in a strange position. The man you feel asleep with was gone leaving you alone in his apartment in his clothes. It was the opposite after a mistake-hook up. Usually people left you in your own home, but it was odd, did you leave? Stay? Something if anything. Your eyes searched around the room looking for any indication of Javier's presence. His badge and cuffs weren't in their according places and a pack of cigarettes was gone as well. You saw a small piece of paper on the floor that caught your eye. You leaned down to pick it up and unfold it. "Went off to work. Be off at 1 for lunch." You looked at his night stand and the digital clock read 12:30. You debated if you wanted to get dressed and look presentable or let Javier see you how you normally looked at home. Which wasn't a bad thing but it can really test someone's relationship. You laid back down and the smell of his sheets was intoxicating. Allowing your body to relax. You thought about you and Javiers relationship. It felt like friends but also something more than that. He made it clear he didn't want to be tied down to something and you knew that commitment was hard especially for your life style. You saw settling down as a massive and personage commitment. And the choosing the right person was scary. What if you hated them? What if they hated you and you just had to get stuck in a stupid marriage where no one even liked each other-
Your thoughts were cut off by jingling of keys faintly outside your door. You sat up from javis Bed. A familiar voice yelled "I'm back." You called for Javier and he greeted you in his room while you where still wrapped in his sheets, and wearing his clothes. He sat down on the edge of his bed appreciating that you had just waken up practically. "You sleep good?he asked fixing the collar on his light blue shirt. "Great actually. I missed you." Your comment caught him off guard, he scooted towards you. "You missed me? This is the first time you've seen me today." You shrugged and reached for the glass of water he handed you. " I missed your warmth. You're great to sleep next to Javier Peña." His face turned a slight pink. In his eyes, he never slept next to any of the women he invited over. They where a fuck and duck. As soon as he finished she left. Not anything after and he spent his nights alone in his apartment after. You tugged at his badge. "Agent Peña, your hairs a lot shorter in this." You smiled at the picture admiring how full of life Javier's face had looked before he say the ugly things Columbia had to offer. His eye bags weren't visible and he was smiling slightly. But also tried really hard to keep a mean straight face. You looked back at him taking another glance down at his ID then giving it back. "How's work." He sighed, "works work, meeting later, then I'll be back home. You're welcome to stay again." You considered his request. "True, I might but I have work tomorrow morning." Javier pulled out a cigarette, "I can make that work." You playfully rolled your eyes and took the unlit cigarette from his hand putting it on the night stand. "Fine, on one condition." He looked at you and tilted his head. "Coffee tomorrow morning. Buy me a cup." He shrugged and agreed to the request. Javier wanted you to stay, he enjoyed having company other than the once every now and then visit from one of his women. You felt important to someone and it was a nice feeling. For once you were being appreciated by someone and they didn't just want you for your body or money. "Would you like to pick out my clothes
For tomorrow?" You asked him. He got a little wide eyed, but nodded his head and smiled slightly. "When do you have to go back to work?", "uh," he looked at his watch "probably 20 minutes, why?","do you want me to make you lunch?" He nodded his head and you walked into his kitchen with him following behind you. He leaned up against the counter and pulled your hair back. "What do you want?" You asked him. He walked over to the small fridge. "Uh, just make me a sandwich." You shrugged and got out the ingredients. Bread, Turkey, chicken, lettuce, mustard, Mayo with a ripe red tomato. You asked for a cutting board and he reached into one of the drawers and pulled it out for you. You walked to the drawer and pulled out a knife. "Uh uh." He reached next to you taking the knife from your hand. "What?" You raised a eye brow at him. "I cut, it's sharp." You scoffed, "Javier I'm not 9 years old. I'm not going to cut off a finger." He looked back over his shoulder, "I don't know that." You rolled your eyes and asked where his toaster was, he motioned to a small tucked away spot on the counter where it was half way plugged into the wall. You took the two slices of bread from the loaf and stuffed them into the toaster pushing down on the button letting it run. Javier placed the knife in the sink and watched with you while the bread toasted. When it finished it popped and you took it out carefully trying not to burn your fingers. You took the two slices of toast and set them down on a plate. You decorated both sides, one with mustard and the other with ketchup. You laid on two thin slices of Turkey and then two thin slices of chicken. Then came the cheese and tomato and lettuce. You placed the final slice of bread on top and he sat down at the small table. You brought it over to him leaning over his shoulder letting your breasts rest on his large shoulders. "How do you want it cut. Vertical or diagonal?" He looked up at you, "what am i? 9?" You shrugged and he looked down at his plate and sighed. "Vertical, into the triangles." You smiled and cut the sandwich accordingly. You grabbed him a bottle of water and set it down across to him. He grabbed his first half of the sandwich and took a bite and took a drink from the bottle. "Good?" A muffled "mmhm" left his mouth. You where Proud of your self. He didn't care about the way you looked or anything, all that mattered to him way you taking the time and effort to take care of him. Javier was always taking care of other people that he had forgotten to take care of him self. Having someone be kind and take care of him was nice. "What are your parents like javi? I know we talked about us but you haven't mentioned anything about your parents much." Javi looked up from his sandwich and set it down on the plate and cleared his throat. "Well, my pop and mom both raised me, loved each-other to death and raised me very well. Although when I did act out pops would make me work in the fields and shooing cattle. I think I shoed enough cows for about a life time. But honestly it worked out." He took a sip of his water. "What was your mom like?" He sighed and sat back into the chair. "Beautiful, and a beautiful soul. If she wasn't on me she was getting on my dad about me. They where what I wanted for a relationship, true love is what it was for them. They could never be separated" He laughed, "but uh, she passed about two years. That was the last time I had gone back to texas to see her before she passed."
Javier cleaned his throat and your eyes sunk into your head. "I'm so sorry, javi." He Breathed in, "don't be, it's ok." That was the only time you asked about his mother and for now, would be the last. Bringing up anything painful just have already been harder on javi. He had already seen a lot down in Columbia and he wanted to try to burry it down deep and stay focused on his work. But the thought of the women who raised him not being here made things harder at times. When Javier finished you took the plate in-front of him to the sinks and washed it off.
