Miami was miserably hot in the summer months. Especially living so close to the equator, you would get off from work at 10:30pm and you had to feel with the sweat droplets forming on the back of your neck from just walking through the parking garage to get to your car. Javier hadn't worked much since he had been back and it was driving him up the wall. He was laying low for now until he would meet back with the government officials about his secret partnership with the Cali cartel. He was itching to get out of the loft and do something, anything. You kept your job working as the maps and locations technician/specialist for Miami's DEA department. It was the largest in the county, right behind California. You would come home from late nights and Javier would do his absolute best to take care of you. Rubbing your legs and feet and taking the tension out from wearing high heels all day. Javier started to get into the habit of cooking, yes he was more than capable to cook. But he started to appreciate the hobby now since he was laying low. When you went back to work Javier didn't know what to do with him self. He tired watching TV and flip through magazines but he said it made him feel useless and lazy. He cleaned a lot, I mean a lot. When you would get back to the loft he would have a feather duster in the holster, where his gun used to reside. The bathrooms and floors constantly smelled of lavender fabuloso, which wasn't ever a bad thing.
Javier had also stopped drinking coffee, not that he enjoyed it but he would drink it in the mornings constantly because he needed it to get through the day. But since he was on his own time he didn't need it as much, for the first few weeks without it he would have withdraws. One day you came home with a few bags off coffee grounds and beans and explained to him that they where much better than the instant coffee they had in his office. He didn't care at first because he figured it would taste the same as any other coffee. One morning you awakened to the smell of fresh hot coffee, you rushed down from the top of the loft and watched him with anticipation as he took a sip from the ceramic mug. His expression changed as he drank it, he pulled the mug away from his lips and then chugged the rest of it down. Safe to say, you bought him more coffee grounds after that. He preferred the Ethiopian coffee beans better. He didn't want to buy from any of the Colombian imported coffee, for obvious reasons. Personally, you didn't mind that Javier wasn't working right now. You made enough to support your self and able to handle the bills for the loft. You noticed that Javier felt bad sometimes, in his mind he felt he wasn't holding up to his manly standards and wasn't taking care of you how you where supposed to. You where going to be his future wife, he wanted to do everything in his power to make sure that you where always pampered and taken care of.
It was a Friday night, the weather was warm, even at night it was still hot. The AC was set to 71 degrees exactly (Javier hated anyone who messed with the AC, he had to hold him self back when you would turn it up sometimes.) you pulled into the drive way and turned your car off, you let out a heavy sigh and leaned against the seat of your car and shut your eyes for a minute. You sat in the silence for a few minutes before gathering your things and getting out, you locked the car and fiddled to grab your keys for the loft and stuck them into the door and opened it up. "Javi! I'm home." You said at a medium loud voice, you set you things down and stretched your back out and kicked off your heels. "How was work?" A welcoming voice chimed back, you grinned as you walked into the kitchen and saw Javier leaning up against the counter and munching on a bowl of cereal, Froot Loops, his favorite. It was late, about 11:48 pm. Javier always stayed up late, even if you where going to be home late he wanted to be the first person you saw when you left work. Sometimes you wouldn't get back till 1 or 2 am and he would still be waiting, ready to greet you with a warm hug and gentle kiss. "Work was good, long. How was your day?" You took your blazer off and walked up the spiral staircase to the top of the loft where you both slept, you started to change. Javier finished his bowl and washed it out before putting it in the dishwasher, he soon followed behind you. "It was fine, cleaned mostly. The AC was being weird so I checked it out. Just needed a filter Change." He sat down on your shared bed and waited patiently for you to finish changing and sit down so he could pamper you. You changed into a pair of shorts and a Duran Duran shirt, you took your makeup and jewelry off and set them down on your nightstand and sat right next to Javier once you finished. He gave you a look and started to pull your hair back, he stated keeping hair ties on his wrists. He pulled your hair back into a low lopsided bun and looked at it proudly. "You're tense." He motioned for you to lay back into the pillows as he placed your legs in his lap and started to massage your calf's. You sighed as you leaned back, "I just hate leaving you here all by your self.. I know you need to but I miss seeing your face when I'm working." You said, he kept his focus on your legs but nodded his head still listening to you and your concerns. You smiled down at him softly and spoke, "you make a really good stay home husband." He started up at you and cut his eyes, "don't get used to it." You grinned at his reaction, you knew he didn't like being referred as a 'house husband'. "I'm messing with you jav." He continued to rub out your legs. once he finished he scooted up and sat at the edge of your bed and traced your legs with his rough fingers. You both silently enjoyed each others company, Javier wasn't a man of many words. Unless sex. Other than that he was blunt and kept to him self most of the time. You learned to enjoy the silent moments with each other, even if it meant doing separate things. You both enjoyed each other's company while doing your own things.
