You where treated with the afternoon humid air, but feeling the sunlight on your face was nice. You didn't go out for lunch most of the time because you didn't have anyone to go with. Every now and then you'd have a coworker come in and knock on your door and ask you to go out with them, which you would But that was a rarity. You packed your lunch most days which mainly consisted of whatever left overs you had before and sometimes a small amount of alcohol to get through the rest of your day with your boss. You babied him, you hated it and frankly everyone on the office thought it was embarrassing. He was a disgrace to his your job and mostly his. You did his job for him, why did he have to rely on you. You where very attractive and that was definitely part of it, but you wished he has some form of dignity and professionalism. "On the way back can we stop by that coffee shop, I have to get another one Javier nodded and opened up the back car door. Steve sat in the passenger seat and Javier drove. As soon as you buckled in the car sped off and you jolted getting thrashed around in the back seat. Javier and Steve continued their normal conversations while you hung onto the back of Steve's seat. Javier didn't drive reckless when you where in the car, maybe he was trying to keep up his "I don't do relationships" persona, trying to seem like he didn't care that you where in the car and you didn't mind getting thrashed around. Eventually the car stopped and everyone got out. You exhaled sharply and fixed your bag that the papers fell out of and pushed your hair back. You let your self out while Steve and Javier walked on without you. You looked ridiculous in your eyes, following after them? And Javier couldn't take a second to at least check on you let alone ask if you where fine. You finally caught up to them, they sat down at a small table at the diner. You pulled a chair from another empty table and sat down next to Steve. You wanted to ask Javier what all of that was about but it didn't feel like the right time, considering you both where in a public place and wouldn't break his bad boy persona. It made you laugh a little on the inside. "So steve, how long have you been down here." You smiled at him, "been down here about 2 years, me and my wife Connie came down from Miami." You pulled a cigarette from his pocket, "I didn't know you had a wife." He lit it and inhaled. "It's fine, so,  same question for you, how long you been in this shit hole." You both talked about your experiences with Columbia. Giving Javier the occasional glance to see if he cared that you where blowing off him to talk to Steve. "Well, do you both want to eat or keep talking." Javier tucked his arms underneath one another and leaned back into his chair. A young woman came by and asked what everyone had wanted, She took all of your orders and left, soon to come back with a few drinks. Javier got tequila, Steve got a beer and you just got water. Javier teased you about it, but you ignored him.

Steve and Javier both talked about work, that was it really. You just sat and listened. Javier would ask you for a file and you would pull one out of your bag. You listened and gathered your own set of information. Not that it had any real importance to you but it was stuff you had already known but you let them go on and on, avoiding to share any of your input that would set them on a whole other course. Food came out quick, Javier got tamales, Steve got bandeja paisa with a slice of tres leches, you got arepas's with a cup of cholado, sweetness to complement the savory after you had finished, it was just what you needed to beat off the humid temperatures.

You where stuffed, they had gotten up quickly, paid then left. You followed and jumped quickly into the back seat of Javier's truck and they drove off, still chattering while you held onto your seat belt that didn't work all the way. Javier had pulled next to the coffee shop, "get it, and let's go." You got out of the car slamming the door behind you and walked inside. You where tempted with amount of pastries that sat in the small glass box while waiting for your coffee. A older women came from behind the counter and loaded up fresh desserts into the glass viewing box. Your mouth watered but you grabbed your coffee and left, hoping you would come back and get one. You get back into the car and Javier took off fast, you didn't get any of the hot coffee on you this time but your hands where burning from holding the cup for too long in fear of it spilling over and the lid popping off. The car came to a stop, you thanked Steve for taking you out to lunch and he smiled and waved you off, Javier gave you a look, you walked up the set of stairs of the embassy and let your self in. You clicked the button of the elevator and waited patiently. You watched the door close but left it stop, you looked up to see Javier prying his way though the door before it fully closing. He stood next to you and sighed very dramatically. "What was that." You looked over at him and shrugged, "I don't know what you're talking about agent Peña." Your stared at him and he turned away from you. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. Flirting with a married man In-front of me." You scoffed and shot him a nasty look. "I wasn't flirting with him, we aren't even together so why do you care." Your voice had gotten hoarse, you where angry but didn't want to cause a scene. "No, I don't care, you're right." He Leaned up against the elevator. You sighed and watched the numbers go up until it reached your floor. You walked out and Javier followed behind you, you looked at him while you left, "forgot my jacket." You sighed and walked to your bosses office while Javier waited at the filing room door. You cleared your throat and pushed your hair back then knocked on your bosses door. You heard rustling around and a women left the room. She walked out and you could see her fixing her skirt. You waited a few seconds and came in. "I have your coffee sir, still hot." You smiled and set it in front of him on his desk. He fixed his tie and cleared his throat. "Thank you beautiful, I need you to go though these documents for me." He opened his drawer and stuck a fat stack of papers on his desk. "Approve these reports and then file them." You sighed and smiled again leaving his office with papers in hand. You held the stack in one arm while you fiddled with your bag with another arm trying to get the keys out. Javier just stood there and watched you as you finally let your self in. You set the large stack on your table and Javier let him self in behind you closing the door. "Looks like you're going to be busy." You looked at him, "shut up." He leaned up against the table and watched you pull a hand full of papers down in-front of you. Javier just watched and smoked the rest of his cigarette, He was literally breathing down you neck. "What was that all about earlier, reckless driving, ignoring me in the car and at lunch." He looked down at you, "I don't know what your talking about." You slammed the keys on your type writer down and pulled the paper out. "You're just trying to keep up this tough guy act aren't you. You're embarrassed about me right? I'm sure of it, you don't even want to interact with me outside of your bedroom Javier!" He sighed and kept looking at you. "Don't just look at me like I'm stupid, you know what I'm talking about. What do you want from me Javier peña." You waited for a moment, he leaned off the table and walked towards your chair and squatted down to your level. He took his large hands caressed your cheek with his thumb. Leaned in and placed a soft kiss on your forehead. Confusion, anger and lust flushed over your body and mind. "I've got to go." A cold gaze crept onto his face, staring down at you. Your mouth hung open and you watched him leave the room. You wanted to lash out at him, but you where so confused to what was going on.

Your day ended with a bang, you could live with Javier but what really put the nail in the coffin was you had missed a phone call that your boss didn't feel like taking, so he gave you a piece of his mind. You just sat there and took it then he stormed out and shut the door on you leaving you to finish up the last of the paperwork on your table. It was about 10:30pm when you had finished, later than usual. You where angry, confused, upset in all the ways really. You just wanted to go home, sit on the couch and cry- then pull your self together, then cry some more. You had to drag your self out of the building and walking down the street felt like you had a bag of bricks on your shoulders from being hunched over the type righter and knee deep in papers All day. You hated it, but tomorrow was another day, a hope that you kept promising your self. You where thinking about Javier pretty much all the way home. How you wanted to yell at him for his actions earlier today, and he would tell you that you weren't even together and it didn't matter. But you also wanted him to hold you and talk to you and let you cry it out. Your mixed feelings clouded your mind for the rest of your day and doing work felt like it took for ever because Javier was all you could think about since he had left you in the filing room. You had finally gotten to your apartment building and opened up the door walking down the hall to a familiar stairwell to go up. You crept up slowly and slumped next to the rail. Your feet, legs, head and shoulders hurt and the closer you had gotten to your apartment, the more they ached. You got to your door finally and fiddled though your purse to find your keys and unlocking the door. You walked in, set your purse on the kitchen table and kicked off your heals, easily shaving off at least 3 inches off your height. You walked over to the couch and sat down laying back and letting out a sigh. "How was work?" You looked over at Javier on the other end of the couch flipping though a magazine and smoking. "Don't even." You turned away from him and crossed your arms. "Why where you so stand offish and weird with me today, with your partner? In my office?" He sighed and rubbed his temples, he folded the magazine and set it on the small table next to the couch. "Because, we aren't together. And I don't want rumors to start up." You scoffed, Javier got up from the couch and walked away to the kitchen, you stood up and followed him. "Really Javier? You didn't have to thrash me around in the back of your car or nag at me for getting what I had for lunch. But oh, it's because we aren't in a relationship that you can treat me like that." He stormed off into the back of your apartment you followed him trying to get a answer. "I bet the hookers you bring over get better treatment than I do!" There it was. The anger had sweltered up and finally poured over. Javier stopped walking and just stood with your back towards you. You sighed and walked over to the edge of your bed and sat down. Tucking your body to your knees and rubbing your face. The silence was loud, the muffled conversation of the neighbors where heard, the AC was louder than usual and you could hear the cold air blow into the room. It was a stand off, who was waiting to confess their apology. You wanted to hear something from Javier, anything at all, it would give you at least some comfort. But you wanted to apologize and bed him to forgive you. He had officially taken over you, everything about you mentally, he drove you crazy.

"I'm sorry you feel that way." The silence had broken you looked up and Javier was standing next to you. He quietly walked over to the edge of the bed and sat down next to you, he slowly wrapped his arm around your body and pulled you in close to his body. You just lost it at that point. The tears flowed, you sniffled aggressively. "Javier. I'm sorry." You had barely managed to choke out a few words from the overwhelming day you had had. "It's ok." His assurance gave you some peace of mind which allowed you to totally let it all out. You sniffles where met with tissues and tears streamed down your hot face and neck. You rambled about your day and cried. You cried about Javier, you cried about your boss, you cried about your paper work and you cried about your aching body. You let Javier hold you and he gently pulled any hair from your face that would get caught up in your tears and snot from your nose. You cried to a point where your best hung was shaky and you didn't want to get up. "I'm sorry you had a stressful day. Can I make it up to you?"
