His soft, gravely voice filled your apartment. You sighed and walked slowly to the table across from him and pulled out the chair that sat parallel to him. You sat back and crossed your arms across your chest. Soft music from the morning radio channel echoed though the hallway. "I just wanted to stop to check on you." You looked up at him, "and?" He sighed, "and to make sure you where fine." You rolled your eyes. You where looking for an apology and for him to cup you by the face and kiss you on the nose, you wanted him to make you feel like you where the most important thing in his life and everything around him never mattered as much as you did. It was a lie, you knew Javier would never do that to you. You viewed him as another pawn on the game of life, he was a measly piece of your life that would soon be taken away from you. You purposely grew a dis attachment to him mentally. Although, you heart yearned for happiness with him. You wished to settle down with someone, grow a family. you wanted that with Javier but you where too head strong and it sounded crazy. You only knew him for at least a month or more. You'd never met his family and he was too married to his work. Your heart dreamed of someone you could have a few kids with. With a small happy little home. It didn't need to be elaborate but comforting and welcoming, a dog to run with the kids, and a baby on the way where you both you take time together to decorate the nursery.
"I'm...sorry mi amore." It was the first time he had called you that. "It wasn't right of me to talk to you like that, and walk out without telling you." He stood up from his chair and slowly walked over to you body. You looked up at his figure, he reached his hand to you. An offering to take it, you reached for him and he helped you out of your chair. He gently wrapped his big arms around your body. Your heartbeat slowed, you let out a deep breath and snaked your hands around his waist pulling him closer to you. You creeped one of your arms up to his neck and took your hand to push his head into your shoulders. Your fingers tangled in his thick hair, providing you something to grasp onto. "I care for you a lot." His hands held onto your body tighter. You felt your face heat up, tears slowly fell down your soft cheeks and onto his shirt, he pulled away from you to cup your face with his tough hands. His thumb brushed away your tears, you wants to scream, and yell at him. But your body was so relaxed and far more calm when you where with him. His hands cupping your face made you tired, you wanted to just go back to bed and pretend your fight didn't happen, but life doesn't work like that. "I'm exhausted Javier. So exhausted." Your eyes had gotten heavier since he had been holding onto your body, his warmth and heavy breathing comforted you, you missed sleeping next to him. Your body did crave it, but he became apart of your routine. He was involved in your your life, now that it has changed it messed you up...The rain trickled down your window, watching the streams chase each other across the thin glass with more On the way was mesmerizing, you grew more tired. You felt gentle hands reach down to lift your feet off the cold floor, you where moving, but not on your own. Javier pushed the door open to your bedroom, he walked to your bed and with one hand he supported your body and the other he pulled down your blankets and adjusted him self to make sure your weight wouldn't shift and cause him to lose balance. He set you down, making sure your legs where comfortably tucked in the thick layer of blankets. He pulled your comforter up, making sure you where warm enough. "I was digging in my closet last night. I found something I think you'd like." Javier left the room and came back with a small rectangular frame. He sat next to you and set the frame down in front of you, you reached and held it up where you could see it. The picture was old and weathered, there was three people standing in front of a large gate with the initial "P" on it. A beautiful woman and short portly man stood in-front of it. In front of them stood a very short little boy, his two front teeth where Missing, he wore a button down shirt with his hair parted in the middle, little black dress shoes. "Aw, is that you?" You traced your finger across the frame admiring its vintage look. "Yup, that's my family." You smiled, "you where so little, how old where you?" He took the picture from your hands and turned it around looking at its date, "about 7 or 8 id say." He handed it back to you, "when was this taken?" He cleared his throat, "Easter Sunday, I was the alter boy at the church. Parents where Catholic, after the service we did a Easter egg hunt, I got the most eggs but my mom scolded me because I found them all before anyone else did," he chuckled, "so I had to hand them all, one by one, to all of the kids who didn't have any. I was so upset." You let out a soft laugh. "Your family has a ranch?" He nodded, "still do, before I left I used to work on it during the summer for my parents. Helping put up fences, building stuff, taking care of the animals. We heard cattle in the winter. I'd go with my dad and we wouldn't get back till late. My mother would wait to cook dinner until we get back, then she would snap at us for being late." He sucked in a deep breath. "Then she would smother my dad with her tortillas, best I've ever had by the way. Good memories." His voice was a bit shaky, "javi, it's ok." He sighed and looked over at you. "I'd love to take you there one day." Your eyes lit up and a warm
Smile crept across your face. "I would love that." His
Smile grew as well, he leaned over to you and planted a warm kiss on your head. "Javi?" He looked at you, "when this is. Over. Do you want to go back to the states. With me?" His eyes widened, his life would go back to normal. Going back to texas, staying with his father, continuing life before he left but it would never be the same. His mother passed years ago, it was the only time he came back to the states. He was there and gone within a 3 day period. Javi was a mamas boy, losing his mother took a piece of him, a piece of his soul. "We'll try." You nodded your head, the Escobar case was going to
end soon, you hoped javi would be able to go
On leave for a few weeks, or at least a few months. You know how the government worked so the chances where slim, at least a week at the most. But
If javi and Steve where successful then maybe longer than that. "No promises tho." He kissed you on the head.
