It was about time for dinner when Jeremiah and Nessa returned from the beach. Nessa came across a tired belly as she came to a stop. "Have you had any fun?" Nessa giggled, causing belly to shove her. "have fun with your boyfriend?" she fought back.
"He's not my boyfriend" Nessa scoffed. The younger girl laughed before answering, "you wish he was"
"Oh yeah, just like you wish Conrad was your-" Nessa started but got cut off.
Belly covered the girl's mouth with her hand while putting a finger to her own lips with the other. "Shh," she said, her eyes widening, "never say that out loud." Nessa rolled her eyes, "I need to go change."
She was able to process everything that happened that evening once she was finally in her room with the door shut. Something had clearly shifted in Jeremiah. He'd been Jeremiah Fisher, her best friend, for the past few summers. But he is now-
He was now very handsy and not afraid to show it. Maybe it was the new body that boosted his ego, but Nessa didn't mind. he looked great. She dressed got for dinner in a plain brown long-sleeve crop top, with blue jean shorts. "Wow, look who decided to come" Laurel teased the raven-haired girl. Nessa gasped before taking her seat between steven and Jere.
"You guys are lucky I even came downstairs. I still look like a mess" nessa replied before rolling her big brown eyes.
Jeremiah leaned in closer towards the girl, making sure she was the only one who could hear the words he would tell her. "You could never look like a mess." Nessa turned to him with a smile on her lips and whispered in his ear. "Really?" she spoke softly.
He adored the sound of her voice in his ear and wished he could hear more of it. If it weren't for the dinner table and the people around them, he would smash his lips against her soft plump lips. Jeremiah's gaze darted between her big brown eyes and her pink lips. The triangle effect. Not only did Nessa notice, but belly from across the table did as well.
"Steven, I swear to god, if you look at that phone one more time, I'm putting it in the screen basket" Laurel snapped at her son.
"It's just, wanna see your beautiful faces," Susannah said, trying to reason. "Can dinner be a screen-free zone? You know, like the olden days." she then decided to add.
Steven still didn't listen, so Jeremiah grabbed across Nessa, getting the phone and throwing it, landing it in the basket.
"Boom! Nailed it" he high-fived Nessa, with a huge smile.
Steven rolled his eyes somewhat annoyed. "Okay, okay, okay, we get it, you have been working out," he said, what everyone was thinking.
Nessa giggled, "you're just jealous because Jere has a better body than you!" she called out to her brother figure.
"Uh, no, actually, it's all about the lean look now. Otherwise, you can't wear tailored suits" he teased, making everyone around the table laugh.
"Tailored suits," Conrad said with a light laugh.
"When are you leaving for training camp, man?" steven asked Conrad.
"Uh, he quit football" jeremiah answered, grabbing his cup, but spilled it all over Nessa's legs.
When the group went to their own conversations, Jere turned to Nessa, "fuck, I'm sorry ness"
She slightly looked up at Jeremiah, "no, it's okay" she excused herself to go clean herself up.
Once she straighten her appearance and changed again.
Nessa went back downstairs to hear steven talking about Mochi.
"Why are we talking about Mohci?" she asked kind of sad, she took her seat.
"Mochi died? I'm sorry nessa" Jere reached towards the small girl taking her hand, in his much larger one.
He has been more touchy with her, and even though Nessa liked it, and didn't mind it, it also makes her confused. Nessa doesn't know if he was doing it because he was bored or if he actually meant all those little side comments, and touches.
"What did I miss?" she asked around the table.
"Conrad, quit football, and belly's going to a debutante," steven said, informing her.
"Wait bells is going to be a debb?" Nessa smiled excitedly.
"I don't know, it's not really her thing" her mom answered.
"I will think about it," belly said.
"She'll think about it" Laurel repeated not really believing she heard her youngest daughter correctly.
Steven was in the shower at the time, singing so loudly that the neighbors could probably hear him. Nessa was trying to finish cleaning her room, but it was difficult to concentrate with Steven singing so loudly. She sighed and put on her Sony headphones, where she listened to her Apple Music playlist. We think too much by Lil Peep was the first song to play. Nessa had an unearthly obsession with the late singer, and her bedroom was covered in posters of him. While cleaning, she was humming the song. It was nice to drown out Steven's awful singing until his wingman came over and bothered her. Nessa didn't hear her door open, but she was aware of a tap on her right shoulder.
"Yes?" she asked him, pulling her headphone off and letting them lay around her neck.
"I understand you are a clean freak and it's cute, everything you do is cute. But I want to watch a movie right now." he moved her hands away from the pillow she was fluffing up.
"Jere" she complained trying to get the pillow to finish fluffing it, but he took a hold of her dainty wrist.
"Pleaseeee, I want to see a movie with my favorite girl" she begged.
"It's movie night with the moms though, why do we need to watch 2 movies tonight?" she looked up at him confused.
"Um because I won't be attending movie night, so pretty please!" he begged her pouting his lips. She really couldn't say no to him.
"Okay, I guess," she told him.
"Yay!" he yelled excitedly.
"But i get to choose the movie," she told him.
"Fine by me" he agreed, turning off her light, and jumped on the freshly made bed, patting the side beside him, after she laid down he placed an arm around her while she reached for the remote from her nightside table. She then cuddles up to his side.
She was certain now. Something had changed with Jeremiah, but she wasn't sure if he was showing interest because he liked her. or if he did it simply because he was bored and wanted to. But one thing was certain: she was going to find out.
I'll be updating soon!!! Thank you so much for giving my bool a chance! Take care and make sure to eat and drink water! Luv you guys 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
