Then Abby dispersed. I looked up at Luke's gorgeous eyes and he showed no sign of fear or worry. Standing there holding my hand he looked comfortable and happy and I know this is how I should feel. I'm so unsure now, since the whole Nick thing.

I can't lose both of my best friends. I love them both, but nobody could understand that. Nobody could know how hard this is. Deep down I know they are going to make me choose if I don't, and I don't know what I'll do.

I'm sure my face shows nothing but worry. Luke pulls me into him and wraps his muscular bronze arms around me. "Don't worry Katie, we can do this no problemo. Everybody thought we were dating anyway, now we'll just act more like it." I smiled at him. "Okay."

Then he did something I wasn't expecting, he slid his fingers into my hair with one hand and with the other he pulled me closer. It took only seconds before the space between us became nonexistent. His kiss was soft, but so sweet.

"The bell is about to ring." he whispered in my ear and then laughed. He grabbed my arm and dragged me to chemistry. Before we left, I looked around the hall. Nobody. He didn't kiss me for show. I couldn't help but smile wider.

"Alright now get to work. The fire extinguisher is in the back if you need it, talking to you Luke." Luke rolled his eyes. "Geez, one time and you never hear the end of it." I couldn't help but laugh. He smiled.

"Our task is to add this weird chemical stuff together and cause a reaction." Luke summarizes from reading the title of the instructions. He then throws the paper down and rolls up his sleeves. Oh gosh this is going to be bad. But I mean I've failed with him before because he's my bestie and he asks so sweetly I can't say no. Then he starts pouring stuff together.

The beaker on the Bunsen Burner began to get pretty hot. It's probably that the chemicals are causing a heat reaction, while it's also over a flame. Then I saw a little crack in the glass. "Hey Luke." I said, looking around for him. CRASH!!! Everything slowed, voices were everywhere, but none seemed familiar. Something is wrong was my last thought before it went dark.

Nick's POV

I was standing nearby in chemistry when Luke started pouring who knows what into their beaker. I couldn't believe his idiocy. He's going to hurt someone, I thought.

CRASH!!! My Kate, she fell. I ran over to her before anyone knew what happened. Luke tried to approach but I was infuriated. "STAY AWAY! YOU DID THIS! IF YOU REALLY CARED FOR HER, YOU WOULDN'T EVER PUT HER IN DANGER!

I lifted my everything right off the ground and kissed her forehead. I was in first aid very quickly and I laid her on the bed. I spoke with the nurse and told her what happened. She said after everything I'd done that I'm free to stay and I did. I stayed there holding her hand and I would until she awoke.

I hated this charade they were playing, where Luke gets her all the time, I want her and I don't care anymore, I'm at least going to try.
