Pain was all I could process as I began to wake. My head was pounding, and it hurt to open my left eye more than an inch. Someone was next to me holding my hand and I groaned as I forced my eyes to open. Unfortunately, my left eye refused and I glanced around with my right eye. Looking around I spotted Austin, Maria, Sam, Joshua, Levy, and Emily all sleeping together on a couch. Looking down at my hand, I saw someone's hands holding onto it gently and glanced at who it was. Mother was fast asleep at my side and I sighed as I struggled to sit up.
On my left side, I could hear the curtains draw back and turned my face to look. Zack was sitting there looking at me with worried eyes. His face had stitches interlacing over some cuts and over others were butterfly Band-Aids. His normal smile was turned in a frown as he caught sight of my left eye and I tried to pull off a small smile, but it hurt too much.
"I'm sorry he punched you." Zack spoke breaking the silence.
"I-It's nothing..." I lied.
"It isn't nothing. He harmed you and it's unacceptable. Your first day of school was ruined by him and you landed up in the hospital out cold for a few hours thanks to him!" Zack yelled.
"If I hadn't stepped in front of you and took the hit, I would have felt guilt for seeing the opportunity to protect my friend and not taking it!" I yelled back as I pulled my hand away from my mother and climbed out of the hospital bed.
"Where are you going?" Zack asked.
"None of your business." I said before leaving the room.
I walked down the hall without seeing anyone. Halfway down the hall I spotted Rick and Peter and began to head towards them. They got me into this mess and caused my friends to get injured. I was not even a little bit happy. I was furious at them. They spotted me and their eyes widened in shock. Their eyes seemed to be different, and I couldn't help but stop and stare. Their eyes were bright red and they had blood on their faces.
"W-What the hell is going on?" I screamed at them.
"April...y-you shouldn't have seen this..." Rick said as I backed up into a metal shelf.
My eyes flickered over to Peter who was holding my father and his body looked pale and completely drained of blood. My right hand reached over my mouth and it was all I could do not to vomit. My other hand reached out behind me and I winced in pain when my hand scraped against a broken glass container. I watched their eyes widen as they caught the smell of my blood and I began to walk backwards towards my room.
They walked forward towards me as I continued to back up. I turned the second they began to walk a little faster and immediately began to run back to my room. My hand was hurting, my head was pounding, and my balance was off. I stumbled over my own feet a few times and glanced back only about five feet from my door. They were right behind me. I screamed as Rick grabbed my injured hand and I felt his tongue touch the blood on my hand. Peter grabbed my other hand, and I felt his teeth contact my right hand. I screamed again and tried to pull away, but they held onto me tightly.
As I screamed and struggled to break free, the door to the room opened and out leaped a brown wolf with brown eyes. The wolf didn't harm me but was trying to harm Rick. My left hand was still stuck in his hands and I screamed as Peter deepened his bite on my right hand. My head began to spin and as I watched defenselessly, two ginger wolves leaped out one had blue eyes while the other had green. They launched themselves at Peter and managed to pull him away from me.
Peter's angry hisses and the sound of wolves growling were all too much. My head was making me dizzy and forcing me to hallucinate. That's it, I was hallucinating the three wolves and Rick and Peter being vampires. This was all just illusions created by my brain...no. This was a horrid nightmare. I must still be asleep on the hospital bed. This can't be real.
