"April..." A familiar voice called out to me.
Opening my eyes, I groaned and sat up to find I was sitting in one of the cages. Beside me were cages as well and I touched my head only to wince. My stomach was in pain, and I immediately laid back down out of pain. Who was I truly and why did that woman, who I had called mother for so long, raise me only to betray me?
"April? Damn lock..." A familiar voice whispered as the sound of keys jingling caught my attention.
I groaned and looked at the door to see Luke and Zack trying to unlock the door with a set of keys. I took a shaky breath and tried to sit up again, but pain shot through me, and I screamed in pain. I could feel the blood run down my side again and I closed my eyes, breathing heavily. It hurt so much!
"April? Stay awake April, please." Luke whispered to me as I heard the door unlock.
"N-No! G-Go save the others! S-She'll kill them first!" I groaned frantically to them.
"But you're bleeding! We can't just leave you here to die of blood loss!" Zack and Luke whispered frantically.
"Just go already! I can handle a little reopened wound!" I snapped as I glared at them.
"Bu-" Luke tried to say as I cut him off.
"I said, GO!" I snarled at him.
He backed up with a hurt look on his face before turning and leaving the cage with Zack close behind him. The sound of their feet hitting the ground became more distant with every passing second. I sighed and struggled to move myself backwards. Pushing with my feet alone, I pushed myself along the ground to the wall behind me. Breathing heavily, I struggled to sit up and covered my wound with my hand.
The sound of someone walking furiously down the hall caught my attention and I struggled to look at who it was. Whoever it was smelled like too much perfume and blood. I could tell from here she was wearing black high heels and black laced tights. Behind her, she was dragging something, and my eyes widened at who it was.
The young girl being dragged behind this woman had long golden locks of hair and pearly white skin that had been tainted red with blood. Her cute white shirt was ripped at the sleeves and along where her stomach was. Her jean shorts were untampered with but her legs were covered in cuts and wounds.
The girl was flung into the cage next to me and I watched as the girl struggled to sit up and glared at the high heeled woman in front of her. I took a shaky breath and struggled to move my head up enough to see who the girl was glaring at. The girl growled in pain as the woman slapped her across the face and I took a sharp breath at her growl. It sounded just like a tiger growling and I could faintly see her livid blue eyes.
"Shut up, worthless child!" The woman spat.
"Why are you doing this to me? Where is April, Cass, and Julia? What have you done to them, vampire?" The girl spat.
"Look over to your left. You'll find April." The woman snapped before walking away from the girl.
The door closed and the sound of the click of the lock sounded. I could hear the woman walking towards my cage and I gulped in fear as I realized my cage door was still wide open. I could feel cold sweat running down my face as the woman walked into my cage. I closed my eyes out of fear and grimaced. The woman's hand wrapped around my neck as she lifted me up and pinned me to the wall while keeping my feet barely on the ground.
"Who opened this cage for you? If you tell me, I won't harm you again!" The woman spat at me.
I opened one of my eyes to see the black-haired vampire I thought of for so long as my mother. I glared at her for a second before smirking. She stared at me with angry red eyes as a bubble of laughter tried to rise out of my mouth.
