Screams rang in my ears as I awoke to hear whimpers and low growls. I struggled to open my eyes and coughed slightly. Pain spread through my body as I laid on the cold, hard surface of the cage. As my eyes opened, I was assaulted by a rather profound light. It was too bright for me. The screams, whimpers, and low growls were still all around me as I waited for my eyes to adjust to this bright light. Groaning, I pulled my hand up and I felt chains pull on my wrists. Damn it. Seems Luke and I were in a whole bunch of issues.
As my eyes adjusted, I saw Luke in a cage next to me covered in bite marks, needle wounds, and he was sitting against the edge of his cage closer towards my cage than the other cages. His eyes looked troubled as he stared down at his wrist. A tag was wrapped around his wrist with numbers printed on it that I couldn't see.
"L-Luke?" I croaked out as I watched his saddened and troubled eyes immediately widen with shock and happiness as he looked at me.
"April! Thank god you woke up! They took more people and stuck them here. They're trying to make a whole army worth of what we are." Luke informed me only confusing me with every sentence.
"Hold up...How long have I been out?" I asked as I looked around.
To my right was a cage holding a kid around the age of 10 with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Her body was covered in bite marks and needle wounds. Her eyes were puffy and red and she looked terrified. I couldn't blame her really. I was still terrified of who and what I became. Come to think of it, wasn't it just me and Luke before?
"You've been out for about a whole eight days. Lily over there was worried you wouldn't survive since when she came, you were out cold." Luke spoke as the little girl nodded now staring at you.
"How many others?" I asked as I felt my stomach drop just at the sheer thought of how many vampires, they had at their disposal to capture people and tigers.
"I-I don't know the exact number...b-but around 50 people I think. They have 40 left to force into what we are." Luke spoke somberly.
He sounded really upset and by how Lily whimpered, I could tell she was terrified. I sighed and sat up. Fifty people ripped from their homes and only ten were like me, Luke, and Lily. Could I really help them all out of this and help them gain control of their tiger forms when I myself couldn't control it? How would I manage that? Where were we anyways? If I could observe the outside, I would be able to figure out an escape plan and possibly save the forty people who were still human.
"M-Miss. April?" Lily asked nervously.
"Yes Lily?" I asked looking at her as she pointed to a door.
The door was open wide as a man wearing a white jacket walked through holding another kid who had bite marks and needle wounds all over his body. The man placed the kid on a metal table and walked over to my cage.
"Well good evening, April Springs..." The man chuckled as he reached for his keys.
I growled as I backed up against my cage. My anger was visible, and the man stared at me with fear shinning in his red eyes that hid behind a pair of glasses. His dusty brown hair seemed to be untamed, and he seemed like he would have been a sweet kid if he hadn't been turned into the one creature I hated more than myself, a vampire.
He grabbed something from his pocket and as he lifted it out, I caught sight of it. It was a needle with some sort of liquid in it. I growled again as he reached his hand into my cage through the bars. I snarled in anger and bit his arm as he stabbed my leg with the needle. He screamed and pulled his arm out as I roared in pain before my body began going limp on me. Damn it...he gave me a blasted sedative!
