Tripti
I had got a beautiful pink lehenga from a rental shop in my locality. After washing it I wore it got ready for the wedding. Navya had already went with Sia to the hotel to get ready by their "makeup artists" and mother had a parents teacher meet in her school so I was alone in my home.
I was about to wear my earring when my phone went off.
"Hello?" "Di, jaldi ao na ham kabse wait kar rahe hai!", Sia notified.
(Come quickly, we're waiting for you.)
"I'm so sorry Sia, you both don't wait for me, I'll come and call you when I reach. You must have things to do, right? "
" Okay fine, just come before the varmala! ", Navya shouted.
(Varmala is a ritual in which both bride and groom exchange garlands)
" Yeah yeah I'm coming! ", And with that I cut the call.
My mother had gifted me golden jhumka when I turned eighteen, as a gift. They are the only jewellery I possess. And I am deeply attached to them.
Applying lip balm and some face cream on my face I head outside my home. After locking the door I walk until I reach our main road to get an auto rickshaw. I had told Navya that I would be coming via cab but autos are better. They are cheaper.
"Bhaiya hotel Taj jayenge kya?", I asked politely.
(Would you go to hotel Taj Mahal?")
" Ji madam chalenge na, aur gateway of India aur Rajabai clock tower, Marine drive sab dikha denge, special-", he said thinking I was a tourist.
" Nahi bhaiya ghumne nhi jana hai ek shaadi hai usme Jana hai ", I explained.
" Oh?", He looked at me not believing what I just said.
When we arrived at the destination I gave him the fare and head up to the lobby.
