Tripti
"Di! Look I bought so many things! It'll look soo good on you!", Navya was pestering me since the engagement. Rudra had given her his card. And she has accepted it without thinking twice. I hated her selfishness sometimes.
Or maybe I was just too... Modest?
"Navya! Why are you buying all this?! You already have bought fifty or so dresses already! Don't be shameless it's his money you're wasting!"
" Di! It's my jiju's money I'm wasting and he has 'no' problem in it! What's up with you?! It's your wedding for God sake! You should be shopping with me-"
" I have an headache can you just go with Sia?"
" You've been saying that since the engagement! I know there's something else. What is it?"
" It's nothing, just don't... Spend too much, it does not look good"
" Huff! Just some lakhs more and I'll stop"
" Navya!"
But she sprints out of my room leaving me with me thoughts and the expensive dresses.
The more I try to run away from him, he pulls me further closer to him. Now, I'll actually be called his wife. No turning back. No way to run.
I still see his bloody hands and twisted expression in my sleep. He wasn't the Rudra I had known, but how wrong I was to think.
I was afraid of him doing something to my mother or sister if I said no, I had to comply.
The day we exchanged our rings... The whole internet was flooded with pictures of us together, smiling, hand in hand. The news and podcast didn't stop at the pictures of our engagement, they were blasting with pictures of wedding venue and everything I had no idea about.
I hadn't heard from him since the engagement. I had blocked myself completely off from the world. There were his guards always patrolling around our house for "safety reasons" and they won't leave at any cost even after convincing them.
Navya was provided with two guards as well, for going out. She didn't mind it. When I asked her why, she replied, "I like to be treated like a princess". I had to roll my eyes on that.
The wedding date was approaching too soon for my liking. Mother was unexpectedly excited as well. She was happy for me, but what she didn't know was... I wasn't happy.
Rudra had arranged two private jets for us to get to the venue, we only invited a few people for the wedding... Most of them being my mother's and Navya's friends. They were asked to board on the other plane and I along with mother, Navya and Sia had been asked to fly in the other one. Rudra was traveling in another one.
I wonder how many planes he had in total. Maybe an airlines?
Navya was too excited to travel on one. She was looking at everything with curiosity. Jumping on the bed kept in the bedroom. "Sia! Let's play pillow fight!"
And they got busy playing. I shook my head and smiled at their childish act. Who can say they are adults?
Mother had dosed off to sleep on her seat. I sat besides her and tried closing my eyes. But his thoughts rushed in. We had so many memories... Most of them brought smile on my lips but his truth... Always blinded me.
God! Why did he have to be a criminal?
The plane gave me a full view of the wedding venue.
