Dr.Doofenshmirtz has never really kept his inventions a secret before now. Normally he doesn't try to hide the materials he buys, and he gladly showcases his works of evil genius on the balcony whenever he gets a chance.
This one, however, was different. It wasn't some devious tool to cause chaos. The use was actually a little more personal- And the item, somewhat inconsequential, though he knows Perry wouldn't agree.
About a couple of months ago, in casual conversation, Major Monogram let it slip that Perry has a hard time controlling his subvocals, so much so that it was part of the reason he was assigned to Doof in the first place. Of course, when Doofenshmirts asked what he was talking about, he refused to explain further. It didn't matter- He'd already told him enough.
Up until then, he didn't exactly care to understand the faint grunts, whines and growls Perry let slip.
Today, he put his finishing touches on the machine. The Translationator, he'd call it. He's so far managed to keep it hidden, using only scraps from old machines and working on bigger inventions at the same time to keep attention off it. Now he can finally use it.
He pushed a larger machine of his out onto the terrace- It wasn't as good a creation as usual, but it worked for the ruse- then slipped the earpiece from his translationator into his ear and turned it on.
Then, right on que, Perry kicked down the door. Perfect timing.
