This isn't completely gender neutral but parts where I wrote "try for one" you can change it to adopt one if you'll like!
Or you can completely skip this chapter if you don't want children 😭

Me and Asra are walking around at the market looking for something for dinner.

While walking something caught my eye, there was a child with a scraped knee crying on the ground.

Without warning I rushed over to help the kid, forgetting to let Asra know.

"Are you alright?" I asked softly to get a better look at his knee.

"I want my mommy" the child cried, showing no signs of cooperating with me.
I sighed and gave up on trying to heal the boy with my magic, he was moving too much.

"Let's go find your mom, what do you say?" This seemed to cheer him up because his cries shortly ceased and he was ready to come help me find his mom.

I quickly look over to find Asra staring at me with a weird expression, "Want to help?" I asked him.

"Would love to."

Together we helped the boy find his mother, who honestly wasn't that far. It felt good seeing the look on his moms face when she saw her boy again.

I smiled and waved, happy to see the little family together again.

Me and Asra walked back to the place where we left off looking for something to eat.

"You seemed really happy with that little boy," Asra said out of the blue.
I lost my train of thought at the question, what was he getting to?

"I always loved children, growing up I would babysit the neighbors kids to help out. Guess that's where my love for them comes from." I smile remembering the memories.

He looked away as if lost in thought, and not wanting to interrupt I stayed quiet.
We found a small place selling rice and orange chicken, so we decided to sit down and eat.

Asra didn't talk much, it was mostly me doing all the talking. I didn't want to assume that anything was wrong, but clearly he isn't in the same mood as he was earlier.

"Is something the matter?" I asked as we made our way back to the shop.

"No, it's nothing. Just thinking." He said laughing.

"I don't know, you seemed pretty gloomy back there."

"It's nothing really, don't worry about it Love."

I sighed letting the matter go, he will tell me of his own accord, no point of rushing him.
When we got home me and Asra started to get ready for bed.

It had been a long day but the shop is doing well so no complaints from me.

I was brushing my teeth as Asra sat on the edge of the bed when he spoke.

"Do you ever want children, Y/n?" He asked softly, almost as if he didn't want me to hear.

I ponder the question before speaking, "I mean, yes I do, it would be nice to have some children of my own someday. Why do you ask? Do you?"

He looked at me and smiled, "I do, just afraid of your answer. I was asking because I was thinking that maybe we could start trying for one?"

His question took me by surprise, and I think he caught on.

"I mean we don't have to try right away. We can wait until you're more comfortable!" he started rushing out words getting nervous.
"Asra, that would be great. I would love to start a family with you." I smile, it's funny seeing him so flustered.

"It's not funny, love!" He said, trying to cover his red face.

I laugh, "It most definitely is!"
