Chapter 38
Toni's POV
"So we'll have you two just sit down and talk about each track from the album?"
"Chronologically or the order we discuss it doesn't matter?" I questioned.
"Whatever feels comfortable to you?" The interviewer asked.
"And every now and then I'll ask a few questions and then we'll end with you singing ." She added.
"Alright cool." Ryder smiled.
Let Me Down Slowly
"I was inspired to write Let Me Down Slowly due to a time where I was really vulnerable. Which I couldn't really express out loud cause I genuinely didn't feel comfortable enough to."
"In the song I describe how connected I am to the person I am with at this time and how I feel like I'm apart of them and how I sense their emotions so easily."
"To the point the thoughts were.. I don't know consuming me and making me feel helpless. To the point where I'm begging this person not to leave me."
"The song was originally written a few years ago.. Well, a few lyrics for the song were written in 2015. My brother and I wrote it together so the whole song isn't necessarily just about feelings I've felt in a relationship."
"I could tell that the relationship was slowly falling apart." I chuckled.
"So I wanted the person I was with to "let me down gently" so that the whole relationship wouldn't just be dumped on me."
Someone You Loved
"Gosh where do I start?" I smiled.
"I genuinely hate listening to this song but I hear it on the radio all the time.. the song is just- It's one of the saddest songs I've ever written. I've lost a lot of people in my life and this song is just about losing people in different forms."
"A lot of people are speculating that someone you loved is about an ex or something and I'm sorry to tell you it's not. But if you want to dedicate that song to your ex do as you wish?" I laughed.
"The song is about my childhood best friend who sadly passed away when I was younger, my fish squiggly, and my uh my dear dear "brother" who recently had been put into a coma. The time of writing this song I had so much going on and I was just genuinely going through a really tough time but I luckily had an amazing support system who stuck by me."
Hate Me
"Let's see we've got hate me next.. this one's pretty quick it's just about people hating? I mean haters gonna hate or whatever I guess."
Mothers daughter
"Mothers daughter.. hmm I never was much of a daddy's girl. Love you baba." I said as I blew kisses at the camera making Ryder chuckle.
"But to be for real the songs about Freedom essentially and the fact I'm my mothers daughter."
