Chapter 46

Toni's POV

"Tomorrow, we'll be at a triple wedding. Hard to believe, isn't it?" Matteo voiced his thoughts.

"Indeed, it is." Enzo responded, his tone mirroring his words.

"So, are there separate bachelor and bachelorette parties in the works?" Matteo queried.

"Absolutely! Your mom, Ryder, and I have decided to host our own-"

"And I'll be organizing a bachelorette party with Taylor and Hailee." Enzo added with a sigh.

"Well, that's the unique aspect of having mostly LGBT weddings." Ryder lightened the mood with his comment.

"Am I on the guest list for any of the parties?" Matteo inquired.

"Absolutely not." I stated without hesitation.

"I'm sixteen now. Why can't I join?" Matteo seemed perplexed and then added, "Wait, are strip clubs involved?"

"Definitely not." Ryder was quick to deny it, as Enzo turned to Jason with a suspicious look, "Is he telling the truth?" Jason chose to remain silent.

"Let's not turn this into an interrogation about our party." I interjected.

"Fair enough." Enzo sighed, his interest seemingly fading.

"I honestly have no inclination for a bachelorette party." I confessed.

"That might be due to the post-Beyoncé concert celebrations." Jason commented, prompting a chuckle. I stood up, reaching for my AirPods and hurried upstairs to find Taylor.

"I'm about to catch my flight... and I wanted to bid you goodbye." I smiled.

"Safe travels." Taylor hugged me, "And make sure you're back in time for the wedding."

"I'll certainly be here on time because if I skip the bachelorette party, Jason will be furious." I joked.

"Are you sure you wouldn't prefer my company?" Taylor asked.

"No, I need to do this alone... plus Matteo is looking forward to spending some time with you." I reassured.

"It seems he might be more fond of me than you." Taylor said, laughter in her voice.

"It just dawned on you? I still remember his enthusiasm when he first met you... Theo was ecstatic to see him so happy." I reminisced.

"Time to move, Tonatello." Enzo called from the doorway. I bid Taylor goodbye with a kiss.

"I'll meet you at the altar." I whispered.

"I'll take care of the paper ringers." Taylor assured, grinning.

***************

"You don't really have to accompany me." I told Enzo, yet again.

"You've been saying that since I parked the car, while we were in line for check-in, at the security check, and while waiting to board. I still want to be here. Besides, who else would've managed those paparazzi and made space for you to click pictures with your fans?" Enzo retorted.

"Thank you." I said, shifting my gaze from the airplane window to Enzo.

"What, for doing the job you hired me for?" Enzo chuckled.

"You're not just my bodyguard... you're my best friend and always there for me. You listen to me when I'm down and take care of me even when I'm being unreasonable. I just want to say thank you for being with me in my best and worst times." I expressed my gratitude.
