"So, what's it like being single?"

"It's pretty great actually..." I laugh following Shawn into English.

I sit down in my seat and Shawn sits beside me. To be honest I don't mind having Shawn sit by me everyday. I know this sounds bad, but whenever we are together I hope that Matt sees and gets jealous. I never knew that Ashley was that shallow considering I have known her for a whole year.

"What's on your mind beautiful?" Shawn asks giving me his smile that makes me melt inside. Ever since me and Matt broke up Shawn has been giving me a lot of compliments. I turn to face him and smile back.

"Nothing, what's on your mind?" I question him. He raises his eyebrow at me and let's out a big sigh.

"I don't know, Becky and her ugly friends have been posting pictures of the party they went to last night and their dresses were hideous, but I'm too nice to say it to their face.." He says in the most girly voice possible. We both burst out laughing and the teacher freaks.

"Cara, Shawn get out of my class immediately." She yells. Me and Shawn get up and quickly leave before we get into more trouble. When the door shuts behind us we both give each other an awkward stare.

"I like your hair." Shawn says breaking the silence.

"Thanks, I like it too." I laugh looking down at my long curly brown hair. I guess those are the perks of being a mixed girl.

"You know I think you are really pretty." he winked taking my hand in his and swinging them as we walked down the hallway.

"Dude I think you've told me that about ten times today, you seriously need to stop." I look at him shaking my head. He just chuckled and spun me around.

He pulled our bodies closer, leaving such little space between our faces. We just stood there staring into each other's eyes until he decided to make a move. Before he could kiss me I jumped back and looked at him in shock.

"Shawn, what the hell is your problem!" I scream at him. His face is red with embarrassment.

"I'm so sorry Cara I didn't mean to I just-" he tired to speak.

"No it's fine I'm sorry," I start,"the thing is I really like you Shawn, but I just got out of a relationship and I don't think I'm ready."

"I know I understand, I really like you too just to let you know." he shrugs and I can see how sad he is. I walk up to him and hold him tight.

"Don't ever leave Shawn you are my only friend and I would hate to loose you." I whisper to him.

"I'm not going anywhere Cara, I'll wait for you so just take your time." he smiles as we continue to walk.

"Thank you Shawn." I say and squeeze his had tight, making sure he will never let go.
