— ximena glanced at ethan across the large classroom, wondering what he was thinking about and how he was just okay with what happened two nights before.
their dismissal bell rung, and she immediately went to approach him, mason blocking her way as he had approached her first.
"hey,"mason began speaking, but ximena paid no attention, her eye on ethan exiting the classroom.
once he did, she huffed and looked up to mason. "hi." she said flatly. "are you okay?" he inquired, looking genuinely concerned.
"no, i got thrown off a fucking building, mason." ximena glared at him angrily, attempting to walk past him.
"hey, wait —" mason grabbed her wrist, making her heart drop. "why are you mad at me?"
ximena wiggled her wrist out of his hand. "i'm mad because of that shitty question you asked me yesterday." she scoffed, brows furrowed in disbelief of his stupidity.
"listen, i'm sorry, really." mason told her. "then prove it to me, mason. don't bother me for the rest of the day." ximena turned her back to him to walk off.
"you know i can't stay away from you!" mason jeered, but ximena sped up her pace and exited the room.
ximena found ethan at a wall, on his phone and walked over to him, he noticed her at the corner of his eyes.
"hey." he said, shoving his phone in his locker while turning to ximena.
"how don't you — why don't you care?" ximena breathed out. "care about what?" he asked, clueless.
"you got stabbed 2 times, and i almost died. just a day later, you act like it all never happened." ximena raised her brows.
"i don't. i still think about it and what could've happened, but, we're both alive, right?" ethan shrugs. "i guess." ximena sighed, upset that he partially missed her point.
"have you told your mom about anything that's happened?" ethan asked her.
mason clenched his jaw at the sight of ethan and ximena speaking, hating it.
LATER THAT DAY
mason, we're not even a thing. ximena told him. this is still bullshit. do you like me or not? mason complained.
no! not anymore, you've been whiny as fuck! ximena argued.
ximena, this is all besides the point. you need to listen to me when i tell you that ethan is behind all of this. mason insisted.
he couldn't be, me and him literally got chased together yesterday. it isn't him. ximena shook her head even though mason couldn't see it. she did not want to believe that he was capable of it at all.
