"what would i do... without someone like you?"
— ximena sat in the dean's office, the principal not there just yet.
chad craned his head to her. "i'm sorry, ximena." he told her. "it's fine." she shook her head, glancing at him.
"why the fuck would you tell them? it wasn't even that serious." mason rolled his eyes, rubbing his temples.
"do you want me to beat your ass again?" chad asked. "no." mason mumbled, clutching an ice pack on the other side of his head.
ethan sat across from them, too, his eye locked on mason angrily.
"stop staring at me, you... fucking pyscho!" mason's voice's tone raised higher within each word he jeered.
"enough!" their principal entered the room, creating silence in it.
he sat in the dean's chair, for the dean was standing by the door, shutting it and locking it temporarily.
"it was said that — you two," mr. hernandez glared hard and ethan and chad intentionally. "interrupted mason and assaulted him during his soccer practice."
"yes." chad confirmed with a nod. "why?" hernandez questioned.
"they got all pissed off because i —"
"i was not asking you, mason. i was merely asking chad or ethan." the man interrupted.
ximena zoned out, not wanting to hear anything more.
"ximena." chad nudged her arm, and suddenly all three of the boys were standing up.
ximena looked up to chad. "we can go." he told her, and ximena shot to her feet, exiting the office with the three others.
mason adjusted the ice pack on his head, where a bruise began to form.
ximena was appreciative of chad and ethan's doing, but she had only gotten in trouble as well, along with the three others. she didn't want to show it, but she was practically furious with them.
mason went his own direction, while ethan, chad, and ximena all walked back down into the quad to meet with their friends.
"so, what happened?" asked anika.
"you already saw what happened on the field." chad answered, his voice not trying to hide his anger at all.
"she means in the dean's office." mindy rolled her eyes at her brother. "he told us we had a high chance of being kicked out. long story short, we were left with a warning." ethan explained to the group.
"where has quinn been?" tara suddenly inquired the group, making them all think.
"she's sick, isn't she?" mindy raised a brow. "oh, yeah. wait... i don't think so — she hasn't been home." tara frowned and shrugged the thought off.
