Briar was already up and doing most of the chores around the apartment since it cured boredom. She looked at the counter, it was really empty. 'usually he is up by now..' she thought walking to their room and finding him laying on the bed looking at his phone doing nothing. She went over to him and sat down. "Are you alright?" she asked concerned. "i'm fine." "Well you don't look fine." "Briar stop" "Learn to lie better. You're not fine." "Just stop." he said quieter. briar was confused and shocked. Coal was crying. "Coal.." Coal tried to walk away but Briar wasn't going to let him. She held onto his hand and they both were back on the bed, She held him while he cried and played with his hair while he traced circles on her spine.
They laid next to each other with Coal asleep as he wrapped his arms around her, with hers wrapped around him. She wasn't asleep, she tried to but her phone kept going off so she slipped away from coal so she could answer, walking to the bathroom shutting the door so she wouldn't wake him up. "Crow i can't talk right now-" "briar please?" "can i call you later? i promise i'll listen then, but right now is not the time." "Ok fine." "Thank you" she said hanging up walking back to the bed where she found Coal sitting up looking at the floor. "We won't go anywhere today. So get some rest ok?" she spoke softly as she got up to walk out she felt a hand on her wrist and looked back "Yes?" "Stay with me." a small smile made its way to her face. "Alright."
She walked back over to Him as he hugged her, Briar didn't know what he was really feeling, but he needed her, that's all that mattered to her. They stayed like this for a while, briar after a while went to go get changed and came back to lay with him. This felt nostalgic to them. They used to sneak out to see each other because briars parents hated him. Kind of felt surreal that they were living with each other now and how close they were. She played with his hair as he slept close to her. She wished she could help more but he never knew how to ask. He was to stubborn and prideful to ask for help. But he is working on it, she knew he was, that's all she could ask for in this situation. She just stared at the window, watching birds as they flew by, watching really anything.
She looked at the clock "How is it already 7pm?" she muttered getting herself out of Coals grip to look at her phone. "Oh shit!" briar said way too loudly. "Wha- what happened." "I totally forgot Crow needed to talk to me. Sorry you can go back to sleep if you want." She smiled. He yawned and laid back down as she went to call Crow. 'he's not answering..' she thought worried as she called Chick, the ringing bothered her, ring, after ring, after ring. In that moment a thousand thoughts ran through her mind like a bullet. "Hello-" "Thank god. Is Crow ok?" "What do you mean? he's fine." "He wasn't answering me, i've been busy for the past few hours." "I'll tell him, but he doesn't really want to talk to anyone, not even me." "That's understandable. Thank you." "You're welcome". the call then ended with briar sighing. She walked back to the room staring at her phone. The sound of their doorbell made her bump into the desk knowing off the lamp. "Shit-" "Wha- Oh my god are you ok?" she didn't know what he was talking about until she looked at her palm to see trickles of blood forming and falling, must have been from digging her nails into her palms. "Yeah i'll be fine- i'm going to go get the door." she said a bit confused.
