(Vulgar language - This is your warning. Part 1 of the birthday weekend:> )
As Coal and Briar took their time to get to the living room he grabbed her hand and intertwined it with his "I love you Briar" he said softly laying a soft kiss on her forehead "I love you more Coal" She smiled softly. The two entered the the living room to see his mom and a few gifts for her "You really did not have to get me anything" She said with a smile "But I did darling" she said as she patted on the sofa for both of them to sit down handing her the first gift. She looked at the wrapping paper mostly as she carefully unwrapped it not wanting to make a mess. It was a glass box with two hair pieces in it they were white hair clips with white lilies on them with pearls hanging from little gold chains. "These are beautiful, thank you" She smiled as she placed the box down on the painted coffee table "Im glad you like them. I have a couple more for you darling." As briar and his mom opened her gifts and just sat there and talked he looked over to see the door open to a slightly pissed and tired Farah. That's just the mood he wanted her to be in while they were here, he just groaned slightly as he got up from where he was sitting to go talk to his sister. Briar watched as he got up from his spot next to her as her eyes followed him into a hallway, she then brought her attention back to his mom as she talked about all of the things in this house that Coal has either broken or hidden from her as a child.
Coal stopped his sister in the hallway and Farah tensed as she didn't recognize the figure before her eyes adjusted. Once she saw him she just rolled her eyes and tried to walk away from him. He grabbed her by the arm to stop her, she looked back at him with a scoff. "Do not ruin this weekend Farah." "Trust me the last thing I want to do is pay attention to that blonde bimbo." She said as she broke through her brother's grip and walked to her room, slamming the door behind her. He just groaned in annoyance as he walked back into the living area with a small smile on his face as he noticed his mom and briar were no longer sitting down or anywhere in the room 'God damn it mom.' he thought as he looked into the back yard to see them in the Jeongwon. His mother took pride in it since she grew everything in there, now her maids take care of it. She had a waterfall attached to it as well. This place his mom created became his mom's safe space. She is an owner of multiple high end law firms all around the world but this was the one place she felt happy in, she made this on her own without his dads help, she looked happier now that he is out of her life. He watched the two talk as they walked, his mother had a hold of briars arm as she was laughing up a storm while Briar stood by her side with a soft smile and just listened. He never understood why Briar listens to everyone, but throughout the years of knowing her and truly being in the moment with her he has come to learn a couple of things. She is an observer. These are people that really just watch and listen, listening and watching within the world we live in, she is the one that pays attention, the one that knows what is happening. She is always emotionally there for everyone, even if they have wronged her in some awful way, like her parents, she is always there for them. Someone could have almost brutally murdered her but she would still forgive, no matter the circumstance, she will always forgive. He loved her with all of his heart, which is why this birthday is going to be something she will never forget. He made his way through the Jeongwon and found his mom and briar next to the waterfall, he was captivated by the way briar looked in the shady sunlight of the trees, her icy golden hair matched perfectly with the scenery. He just stared at her with awe, she was perfect to him, an angel sent from heaven. "Are you okay Coal?" he heard a faint voice ask as he snapped out of his love spilled spell. Briar was standing infant of him now, looking up at him with a soft smile as her hand brushed against his "Yeah I'm more then okay Doll" He said grabbing her hand and intertwining it in his. They all walked back into the house and back into the living area, sitting down and just talking, well Coals mom did all the talking. As soon as they all exchanged their goodbyes, His mom went in for one last hug "Happy birthday darling, I will see you two later tonight correct?" she said with a loving tone "Yes mom you will see us later tonight, thank you for having us" "Yes and thank you for the gifts" Briar added with a soft smile. His mother just smiled "That's only a little bit of the things you deserve on your special day Darling." The two of them walked back to his car and just smiled "Your mother is one of the nicest people I have met Coal" She said softly as they made it into the car "Yeah Im lucky to have her, I wish I got to live with her in my childhood though." "Yeah that would have been nice but the people you lived with and met throughout your life made you who you are. I love who you are." she said in a hushed tone leaving a kiss on his cheek. He smiled as they drove back to their place as Chick and Crow were waiting outside the door with shit eating grins on their faces. They made their way up the stairs to meet those two and Coal looked at them confused "I would ask if you two are ready to go but I want to ask what did you guys do." "What? I am offended you would ask that." Crow huffed as he crossed his arms. Briar just smiled at the two useless banter as she got a tap on her shoulder by Chick to walk with him inside as the two boys argued. As they walked in she put her stuff down on the kitchen counter and went to sit on the couch as Chick followed in suit. "How was Coals mom? Is she doing well?" Chick asked filling the comfortable silence "She is one of the most energetic women I have ever met. She's doing amazing. Being a CEO of her own business and having all the time in the world" Briar smiled softly as she heard the door slid open to the two still arguing. "She seems like she is having the time if her life huh?" Chick said with a giggle watching the two walk in bickering. Briar just nodded watching the two with a small smile the she heard a phone ring. She reached into her purse as everyone got a bit more quiet. As she held her phone in her hands she look at the name and just took a deep breath and stood up walking towards the front door "Excuse me for a moment..." she muttered the happiness she felt rushed away from her face incoming with a more serious tone washing on. The three just watch the door open then shut and looked at each other. "Coal who would be calling her right now?" "I don't know." He said sitting on the couch putting his face in his hands with a small nod from Crow. The three sat in silence for a moment until Chick spoke up "Lets talk about how this dinner is gonna go huh?" and with that the other two just shrugged and started talking away about dinner reservations.
(Meanwhile outside)
"Dad I don't want to talk to you. Especially today." She muttered as she had her phone up to her ear. "Yeah well for your mother's sanity and our family's sanity just do it this once." "What's wrong with mom? What did you do." She asked her confusion was more heightened now since her dad never calls about her mom or calls her in general. "The police are investigating me. I know you're probably cheering but if you don't testify for me in court you're going to tear this family apart." He hissed with manipulation. She just stared out into the environment around her dumbfounded "What are you being investigated for dad." "All of it, rape, drugging, drug distribution. Ive been able to get out of it before because you have always complied to my rules and never caused any issues like I'm assuming you will do now.." He said with a what she could tell was a shrug of his shoulders. She just stood there as he dad continued to talk a tear streamed down her face 'he's finally being investigated...after all these years of torture he's being investigated' "Can you hear me dear?" He dads voice caught her when he said that nickname bringing all of those memories back, all of the restless nights, all of the painful excuses as to why a father was doing these things to his daughter, all of the days in grade school when it hurt to sit down or move quickly, all of those times she had to protect her younger brother, all the punches she took for her mother, all the times where she just wanted a father love. She just shook her head and muttered "Yes dad." "So you are going to testify?" "Dad I don't know. I just want to enjoy my birthday today, not deal with this bullshit. Call me next week and ask me again if you actually care. I honestly hope you learned your mistakes this time." "Do not speak to me that way young lady-" "No. Im done being your little punching bag dad. Im done being your sex doll. Im done with all of it. I was a child dad. Fathers should not be treating or doing those things to their children at all. Learn your lessons dad." She said as she hung up the phone, constant rings began to roll in one by one 'Look who has the upper hand now dad.' She was the only child in her family who could testify since she's the only child not a minor. She just turned her phone on silent, wiped her tears off her face and walked back in to the house to find the three conversing again.
The three males heads turned as they heard the door open there conversation falls to a silence. Briar just looked at Coal then walked upstairs to their bedroom, she didn't make a face or anything it was just an empty gaze. Coal followed her up the stairs and wait for her to say something when they got to their bedroom. The silence between the two was loud. She was just sat on the bed and he stood infant of her. With that. silence came the crashing down of her she stood up and hung on to coal as it was like her life depended on it. He held her, he was always there and was always going to to be there for her. 'There was no way someone could have ruined today for her already..' he thought as he rubbed circles on her back trying to calm her down. Her chest moved up and down very quickly, her heart was racing. She just could take that today. "He-he's being in-investigated c-coal" "Who is hon?" "My dad.." She mutter as her voice hitched in between breathes "I can't do it. I can't do it Coal-" "What can you not do hon? Remember to breath" He said softly as he sat he bat down on the bed and then took a seat next to her. She took a moment to just breath to herself and wiped her face "He's being investigated for everything coal..everything..." She muttered as she placed her face in her hands making her voice a bit muffled "It sounds like it's a good thing and way past due hon." "Its not though. That's going to tear my family apart." She said standing up abruptly "I should be happy but to hear all of it being talked in a court room, being judged by multiple face again. All over again. I don't want to deal with it anymore coal But I have to testify in court." She muttered as her body made its way to the floor as she hugged her legs with a sigh "For or against your Dad?" he asked as he watch her shrug "I don't know yet.." she muttered "Briar that was your dad that called you huh?" he asked softly as he extended his hand to hers pulling her towards him as he placed his hands on her hips, she just nodded. "He's going to destroy my mother. She didn't even know he was doing any of this shit besides the drugging. She doesn't know about the rape charges and the stuff he did to me.." She said with a sigh as she looked out that window in their room, he pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her waist. They stood there in a comfortable silence as they both thought, he wanted to be there for her and knew that leaving her to think would be the right way of showing her support, but not alone. 20 minutes had past and there silence had been interrupted by a small knock on the door followed by a soft voice "Are you two ready to go eat? We will be late to the reservations if we don't leave soon" "We will be out in a minute, go ahead and head out and we will meet you guys there" Coal replied in his usual annoyed tone, which everyone was used to hearing from him. But with briar he tried to sound more empathetic and kind hearted. They heard the front door shut in the distance as they were stood there, their minds at ease as they stood together, they were all that they needed in that moment.
