As the two of them finished getting ready Coal stopped her before she opened the bedroom door "Sorry but you have to wear this, Crow and chicks orders" He smiled as he pulled out a white blindfold from his pocket "Can I ask why?" She smiled a bit confused "They just want you to be surprised" "Oh I see" She said a bit concerned but agreed. "You'll be okay I promise" He hummed as he tied the bandana on to cover her bright blue eyes. As the two of them made there way down the stairs there were so moments for breaks, Briar didn't really trust the idea of going down the stairs blindfolded. "Do you think I'm going to drop you?" Coal asked in a very fake defensive tone "No I have just never been in this situation before" She muttered as she really didn't trust the process of this at all. "Like I said before, you are going to be okay, I promise. Guys we are almost down the stairs!" Coal called out that last part to Crow and Chick who were waiting for them downstairs. This was going to be a birthday to a remember for her, he wanted to make sure it was going to be. When they got downstairs she felt so relieved to not be on those stairs anymore. "Are you ready to have the blindfold taken off Twinkle toes?" Crow asked, briar could hear the excitement in his voice which scared her and made her feel grateful for all of them "I guess so" she smiled softly as the blindfold was slowly taken off of her eyes. Her eyes had to adjust to the lighting of the room but her eyes lit up once she saw everything clearly. She didn't know they cared about her birthday that much, she didn't even care that much. Every part of their house was decorated, but not to the point it was overbearing, They had food, even though they knew she probably wouldn't be hungry or eat it, but it was the thought that counts. They even got her gifts and placed them on the counter, which made her tear up a bit. Then her body tensed as she felt Honey walk next to her leg, the cat dying for her attention. "Aww you guys really didn't have to do any of this. I really didn't need anything." She muttered with a smile as she picked Honey up in her arms. "You literally deserve all of this and more Briar." Chick said smiling "Yeah you deserve the whole world. We would have gotten that for you but it just wasn't for sale at the time." Crow added. She knew that her and crow have had there differences for the past few weeks and that they still needed to talk but she was extremely happy that he put it aside to have fun on her birthday with her. "This is just amazing." She said softly as Honey sat in her arms with Chico getting very jealous. "Well what are you waiting for? Open your gifts!" Chick exclaimed as her eyes widen a bit at his need to get this party going, she giggled little bit and sighed "Why? What's the rush?" "We just have so much to do today!" Chick said with a smile as he handed her the first gift and brought her to the couch in her and Coals living room. Crow and Coal on the other hand were discussing todays events and how they were going to go, she un wrapped the pretty pearly white wrapping paper to find something unexpected and her face went red as she placed the gift in her lap. "It's a great gift isn't it?" chick said with a sheepish grin which made Crow and Coals head turn to the awkward she as she just smiled "I-It's great...Thanks" she smiled still a bit red In the face. Chick had gotten her a lingerie set, she didn't know why "I figured you would like to have something to wear under your white dress just so nothing showed up like different colors you know?" Chick was a model so she appreciated his advice so she just smiled. "I guess I'll go change then?" "Yes! I bet it will look lovely on you" Coal and Crow watched her walk away up the stairs into her and Coals bedroom shutting the door behind her and Honey sitting outside of the door waiting for her return. "So what exactly did you get her babe?" "Yeah what did you get her that made her that red in the face" The two males asked very confused. "It doesn't matter its not like any of you guys will be able to see it besides you Coal." Chick grinned seeing Briar walk back down the stairs and sit back down on the couch with Honey following quickly behind her "Woah she does not leave your side huh?" Crow asked as he followed the cat with his eyes "Yeah I guess so, she's always been like that though. Chico does the same thing with Coal" She said with a smile as she patted her lap and Honey making her place on her falling asleep. "Thank you for the gift Chick" "There's more where that came from!" She just smiled and looked out the window. Coal was mesmerized by the girl he could call his. She was everything he could have wished for in a person. When everyone saw his faults she saw hope and a wonderful person, it did take time for her to warm up to him at first but he waited for her unlike anyone else he waited for her. He felt blessed, even though he didn't believe in any of that stuff, he did feel incredibly blessed to have her in his life. He watched the way she talk to Chick but the way she talked to anyone was just full of love and compassion. She wants everyone to succeed, she wants everyone to be happy. Her best friend is with the love of his life because of her, They all just wanted to make her birthday special. Its what she deserved. She deserved the world in his eyes, she was all he could think about when he was out with his friends or at work. She filled his head and his thoughts in any and every way. He just looked at her and smiled "You know, I've never seen you look at anyone like you look at her big boy" Crow said breaking his train of thought "Shut up." "I thought we were passed getting flustered with each other" Crow joked hitting him in the shoulder gently "I get how you feel man, Chick is the best thing that could have ever happened to me, all because briar told me to chase after that guy In the Starbucks a year ago." He smiled as he looked at his loving boyfriend laughing with Briar. Coal just sighed and smiled "She definitely has me wrapped around her finger" Crow just softly laughed "I know dude. Go give her your gift." He said as he handed him the gift to give to her. He just took a deep breath and walked into the living room and sat down next to her. She looked at him with a soft smile "I got you something" He said as he had a gift in his hand "Aw you didn't have to get me anything though" she smiled as she took the gift out of his hands "Open it" she did as he asked and unwrapped the wrapping paper carefully to see a box, she opened the box to see a charm bracelet, it was rose gold like all of her jewelry besides her pearl earrings and necklace she just sat their in was as the two charms having his initial and her initial. She thought it was the sweetest thing in the world. She had tears in her eyes as she looked at it, he was conflicted "Do you not like it? I can take it back-" He was interrupted by her hugging him placing her head in the crook of his neck. Crow was sitting in one of chairs close to chick who was looking at the two in awe. She lifted her head to look at him and just smiled "It's perfect Coal. It's more than perfect." He smiled and welcomed her into his warm embrace and laid a kiss on her soft lips. "Okay you two, my turn!" Crow said breaking the moment with a gift in his hands. They broke away from their shared embrace she turned towards Crow with a smile taking his gift out of his hand and started to unwrap it. She looked at the box to see a White swimsuit with pearls and a rose gold chains connected to the bra line of the bikini. "Ooo that's super pretty!" Chick said with a smile "Yeah I guess that says something about our day" Crow said with a sheepish grin "More like our weekend" Coal added. Briar turned to face Coal "Our weekend?" she asked with a small smile "Yess! we are going to a resort by the beach!" Chick said as he could not contain his excitement any longer, Crow put his hand on his forehead and laughed "We were all supposed to tell her, not just you Honey" he said as he placed a kiss on his face. As they all talked to her about the weekend trip Coals phone began to ring. He looked at his phone to see his mom calling him, he picked up the phone "hey Mom-" "When are you bringing my baby to me?" everyone could hear his mom, they all giggled as Coal sighed "Well hello to you too and soon she just finished opening some of our gifts mom" "Well hurry up. I want to see my baby on her birthday" His mother scoffed over the phone "Yeah, yeah, love you too mom-" "Also before I forget, your sister is here. Your dad made her come stay with me." "So she is going to be with us the entire weekend?" Everyone looked confused since they didn't hear what his mom said this time "Unfortunately hon, I paid for an extra room so you shouldn't have to deal with her and i'll try to make sure she behaves." He sat there for a moment with all eyes on him and sighed with a smile "As long as you make her behave mom it's fine" "Great! She is out of the house right now so it would probably be better if you came by now." "Okay we will see you soon then mom" He said with a 'I love you' at the end as he hung up the phone. Everyone was still confused looking at him "What's up Big boy?" Crow asked "Uhm My sister is staying with my mom because my dad didn't want to deal with her bullshit." Coal said with a sigh "But she isn't home right now so we are going to my moms house for a little bit while Crow and Chick set up the next surprise for the weekend" Coal said extending a hand to briar as he stood up. "You guys know where to go next right?" "Mhm we're on it Coal don't worry about it" Which said with a soft reassuring smile "Im so glad he knows because I forgot" Crow said with a sheepish grin. Coal just rolled his eyes and smiled at Briar "Are you ready to go to my mom's house sweetheart?" she was thrown off a bit by the 'sweetheart' at the end but smiled softly "I got ready this morning so I think I am ready" She said softly "Well then we will be on our way" Coal said as he guided her out of the apartment to his car and they drove off. Meanwhile still in the penthouse, "He means the dinner reservation right?" Crow asked in a genuine tone "I love you but sometimes you can be very dumb hon" Chick said with a smile as he grabbed his keys and walked both of them out of the house. Coal and Briar soon arrived at his mom's house, His mom's house was a traditional Korean styled mansion, she was always mesmerized by her house. The cherry blossom trees just made it look so heavenly, it was like brains house beside's hers was more of the French styled mansion and had dogwood trees. But she loved being at his mom's house and she hated being home wither parents. They walked over the little wooden bridge that she had as a walk way to her front door over a river filled with Koi fish and water lilies, she loved standing out here with his mom. She also loved walking with his mom around her garden which is called a Jeongwon or a Wollim. She has taught briar a lot about them, Harmony is the center of all lessons for a traditional Jeongwon. As soon as Coal opened the front door and walked into the house His mom pushed him out of the way to shower Briar with love "Yeah I love you too mom" "Oh you know I love you Coal" She said as she stopped hugging her to hug him. Coal chuckled a bit to see briar breathing a bit better now. "Mom you have got to stop suffocating her when you hug her" He said with a chuckle of amusement. Briar just smiled softly as she watched him get love from his mom. She loved Coal but she envied him sometimes. She envied Coal and Chick sometimes for love they are shown by either one or both of their parents. That love was something she missed in her childhood, the motherly love that she never received. She was lost in thought as Coal and his mom talked. She just couldn't stop thinking about her mom and why she had to be so different. Her mother never wanted to be a mother and when she did, she just wanted something from briar. She didn't despise her mother though, she should, but she couldn't. She hated her father. She never saw him as one. All of the things he did and dragged her into, dragged her mother into. All of the prostitution and drugging, and he's still the owner of one of the biggest companies in the United States. As the two talked his mother turned to see briar was stood infant of a painting but she looked like she was thinking and not looking. Coal turned his body towards her as well placing a hand on her shoulder as her body tensed and broke out of thought. She turned to face them and smiled "Its a very pretty painting" She spoke softly as she smiled. "Thank you Darling, that one I inherited from my mother. She painted in the last years on her life, Beautiful women, I wish you could have met her, she would have loved you as much as I do" She smiled at that "Lets go into the living room so I can give you your gifts!" His mother exclaimed as she basically beat the two there.
