Agatha's a bitch

Pope and I dropped Kie back off at The Wreck, she said she had to start storm prepping for the hurricane. Pope told her to stay safe and we headed back to Heyward's. Upon arriving Heyward was waiting on the deck with his arms crossed. Shit, he knows. I thought to myself. I took a deep breath and prepared myself to be fired on my first day.

Pope was close behind me and he placed his hand on my shoulder in a comforting manner, I guess he was sharing the same thoughts I was.

"What took you kids so long? We need to prepare for Agatha!" He bent down and threw a sand bag towards us, pointing at the building. "Let's go kids, we don't have time to waste." I looked back at Pope and gave a smile of relief. We then quickly go to work boarding up all of the doors and windows and putting sandbags down.

After about an hour or so of prepping we were nearly done, and just in time too. The skies were getting darker and the waves were getting bigger and wild.

"Hey, Pope!" A taller kid, I'd assume my age, yelled at Pope from the window of a brown van. He had sandy brown wavy hair and freckles across his nose.

Pope looked at Heward who was already shaking his head no, "Dad, I need to help him secure the Chateau." Pope was basically giving him puppy eyes. Heyward took a look around and sighed with a nod. "You two better be back home soon!" Apparently, I was going with Pope.

Pope grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the side of the van, opening the door for me. "Thanks, Pope." He hopped in afterwards and closed the door. "Hey, John B, this is Lyra." John B turned around and waved, "Pleasure to meet you" he said with a quick wink. I chuckled and replied with, "The pleasure is all mine."

After a few minutes Pope looked around and then looked at John B with an accusatory glare. "John B, why are we going to the beach?" "You'll see."

We pulled onto the beach and John B grabbed some surfboards out of the back handing one to Pope and one to me. We walked past the beach closed due to hurricane sign and observed the water. "These waves aren't surfable, bro." Pope said as he shook his head. John B looked at me and nodded towards the water. "I don't really want to die my first-time surfing. Next hurricane though, for sure."

"Fair enough, we're friends with the best surfer in Kildare, so you'll learn soon enough. Don't tell him I said that though." John B said before heading into the rapid water. He was insane. Pope and I headed back to the van, which he called twinkie, and we placed our boards back inside.

"Where are you staying at during Agatha?" Pope questioned looking at me as we walked back to Heywards store. I gave a small smile, "My car. Don't you know that's obviously the safest place?" I joked sarcastically. Pope laughed and shook his head. It started to rain, not just sprinkle, it was a full downpour.

"Let's make a deal. You drive us to my house, and you can stay there for the night." I thought about it, but quickly decided that it would be my best bet. I nodded to Pope, and he grabbed my hand as we started to run back to my car. We got in and drove to his house, the wind was picking up and so was the rain.

We got to Pope's house and with both run inside, laughing about the fact we were absolutely soaked. Luckily my white shirt was a thicker fabric, so it wasn't see through. Heyward came around the corner, probably coming to see what all the noise was, and stopped at the sight of two completely drenched teenagers.

"Pope. Lyra." He said trying to hide the smile that was making its way on his face. "Hi, Mr. Heyward. I was wondering if-" "Of course, you can stay here. Gotta make sure my workers don't leave with the storm. Give me one second." He quickly re-appeared with towels. Pope and I dried off and we went up to his room.

"I forgot my bag in my car, I'll be right back."

"It's hailing, just borrow some of my clothes." Pope said before throwing me a pair of socks, sweatpants, and a t-shirt. He pointed to a door and told me the bathroom was through there. I head into the bathroom and realize I looked like a total mess. I took my braid down and threw my wet hair up into a bun instead. I then peeled my wet clothes off and placed them on the edge of the shower.

I tried drying off my undergarments the best I could and then placed them back on. Kind of gross, but oh well. I then placed Pope's clothes on and was surprised that they weren't that big on me. I tied the drawstrings on the sweatpants just a little tighter and tucked the front of the shirt in. The socks on the other hand were huge, but I didn't like being barefoot. Unless of course I was sleeping, only sociopaths sleep with socks on.

I left the bathroom and entered Pope's bedroom as he was putting on his shirt. He was extremely attractive, don't get me wrong, he just wasn't my type. My type was apparently 'bad boys'. Even though Pope and I had only known each other for the day, I felt closer to him than I had anyone else. Granted, I never had any friends, but he was a good kid. While I was stuck in my thoughts, I guess I had been staring at Pope.

"Earth to Lyra? You good?" Pope asked shyly.

"Better than good. I mean damn Pope. Meet a girl, get her soaked, bring her home, and give her your clothes." I wiggled my eyebrows at him and laughed. He quickly joined in before telling me I was, and I quote, "The craziest, funniest, and weirdest girl" that he's ever met.

"Pope. Lyra. Dinner!" Yelled a feminine voice from downstairs. "Is that your mom?" I ask Pope as I follow him down the stairs. He nodded and greeted her with a hug as we walked into the kitchen. "Hello, Mrs. Heyward. I'm Lyra. Thank you for letting me stay here during the storm. You have a beautiful home." She told me it was no problem and then pointed to a chair next to Pope.

She served us some fried shrimp and roasted vegetables; it was definitely the best meal I had in a long time. I helped her finish up cleaning and after about an hour all of the power shut off. Heyward gave Pope and I some flashlights, blankets, and some board games. He told us to sleep in the living room.

Mr. and Mrs. Heyward went to sleep in their room while Pope and I made a fort in the living room. We stayed up for a few hours telling ghost stories and eventually ended up passing out next to each other. I would occasionally wake up to the howling wind, booming thunder, or a bright lightning strike.

"Kids, get dressed, we've got lots to do today." Heyward woke us up as he walked into the kitchen. I opened my eyes and chuckled at the position that Pope and I were in. Pope and I were both completely spread out, but my legs were over his mid-section to where we made a 't' shape. He had drool coming out of his mouth and he was lightly snoring.

"Popey. Wake up!" I said into his ear, he swatted me with his hand and groaned as he got up. "Fine, mom." He said as he rolled his eyes at me. I ran out to my car and grabbed some clothes and went to get changed. I wore the same jewelry as the day before, but I wore a black crop top and some jean shorts. After getting changed I walked into Popes room where he tried to surprise attack me by throwing a shirt at me.

I caught it from the air and examined it, "Thanks for the shirt, P." It was a short sleeve button down, so I put it on leaving it unbuttoned. "Let's go kids!" Heyward yelled from downstairs. Pope and I headed downstairs and got into my car, we followed Heyward all the way to his store. Agatha made one hell of a mess. There were trees down, houses torn, and random objects thrown everywhere.

Pope and I immediately got to work taking down all the sandbags and boards from the windows. Luckily there hadn't been any major damage to the store, just a few tree limbs places. Pope and I were cleaning off the boat dock when we heard a boat.

"Well, look who we have here."

Kind of an intro to give some personality to Lyra. I'll out some scenes from the actually show and just add her in. Let me know what you think.
