The next morning, I was woken up by John B who was yelling at JJ and I to get up. After JJ and I's little make out session last night, we crashed on the couch together. "I can't walk. I have Polio." JJ said digging his face into my hair. I shoved him off the couch, and quickly got up. John B walked from the kitchen and gave us a weird look. "Did you sleep on the floor bro?" I shrugged and walked into John B's bathroom.
I showered and then dug through my bag for an outfit fitting for today. I was going to get the money for the groceries from Topper or Rafe, one of them was going to pay up. I'm glad John B woke us up early, now there's a chance I'll be able to actually get to work early too.
I slicked my hair back into a ponytail and even threw on some light makeup. I wore a black V-neck tank top and black ripped jean shorts. I looked in the mirror and laughed at myself. My arm had a gash in it from being shot, and my face was still lightly bruised; I really did look like a force to be reckoned with.
(The outfit minus the shawl thingy)
I walked out of the bathroom and John B asked if I wanted to go with them to find the Royal Merchant. "I've got to go to work." I didn't want to tell them that I was going to probably get into another fight. This was my problem to deal with, I should have stopped them before they hurt Pope and his groceries.
I got in my car and headed to Topper's house; I knew he was my best bet. Rafe had a problem with spending money. I pulled my car into his driveway and put it in park. I observed his house and decided that I should just knock on the front door. I heard some noise and noticed that the garage was open, I saw Rafe, Topper, and Kelce all working out. Perfect.
Topper was bench pressing while Kelce and Rafe were talking. I walked over to Topper and held the bar down. "You owe Heyward some money." The bar was sitting on Topper's chest, and he was struggling to breath. Kelce grabbed me and shoved me across the room while Rafe lifted the bar off of Topper.
"You're fucking dead, Lyra." Topper said after he caught his breath. I tilted my head and put a confused look on my face, "But I'm not."
He shoved past Kelce and Rafe and threw a punch at me, I slid to the side barely dodging it. "Was that your mom's car pulling in the driveway? I'm sure she would love to see the bruises you've left on me." I started heading towards her as she got out of the car.
"Lyra, wait." Topper put his arm on me and softly pulled me back into the garage. "How much?" He asked quietly grabbing out his wallet, sifting through the cash. "Dude, she just made you her bitch." Kelce joked. I looked up and smiled at Kelce and Rafe, "When it comes down to it, you all are."
I grabbed a hundred-dollar bill, and then another one, "Ones for the groceries and one is for the attitude." I started walking away before I decided that it wasn't enough. Topper had his fill, I mean we literally sunk his boat, but Rafe hadn't. He was going to hit Pope, and if I hadn't been there Pope probably wouldn't have left without an ambulance.
