I woke up with the feeling of the sun on my face, I opened my eyes and cringed at how bright it was. "Lyra?" I groaned as I opened my eyes all the way and looked towards Pope. He came over to me and pushed my hair out of my face. "You look like shit." He said with a low laugh.
"I bet Topper looks worse," I smiled at him. "Not that it takes much for that." He helped me up and walked me into the bathroom. "Kie just left like ten minutes ago, she picked out your clothes. Girls are so weird." Pope muttered as he left the bathroom. I took off my outfit and looked at myself in the mirror. I had dried blood on my face, not as much as what was there, so one of them must have tried to wipe me down.
My ribs were bruised, and it hurt to breath, my jaw was swollen and sore, and my knuckles were basically purple. My nose was definitely broke, and I had a deep cut above my eyebrow. I turned on the water and stepped in the shower, I took a deep breath as the hot water burnt my skin. I lightly scrubbed off all of the dirt and blood, watching the water in the tub lightly darken for a second. I finished my shower, turning it all the way too cold to wake myself up a little bit more before turning off the water.
I stepped out and dried off, examining the clothes Kiara picked out for me. It was a lavender bikini, and then a short lavender dress. It had a lowcut neckline and an open back, I wasn't much of a dress person, but the less clothes I had to put on, the better. It was pretty loose, so it didn't push up against my ribs. She also left me some sandals, so I slipped those on as well.
I left my hair down to help hide the bruises on my face, we were at Popes house, so I'm not sure if Heyward had seen me yet or not. If he hadn't it would be best if it stayed that way. I finished up my general hygiene and headed out of the bathroom. Pope was waiting on the bed and lifted his head to look at me when I opened the bathroom door.
"You up to go meet with the pogues?" Pope asked walking over to me. I could tell he was examining the bruises on my face. I gave him a small smile, "Well, obviously. I got dressed to impress." I wanted to smile more, or even give him a little laugh, but my jaw was definitely pretty messed up.
"Good, the twinkie should be arriving soon." As if on cue, we heard the beep of the horn. We hurried out the door before Heyward could see us. I hopped in the back of the van with Pope, Kiara was in the back, too. John B was driving, and JJ was riding shotgun. John B looked back at me before we started driving, his jaw looked worse than mine. "You look like shit," we both said to each other at the same time. We then both started to laugh, until it hurt, and we both 'ow'ed.
Everyone else apparently found it funny, while John B and I sat in silence. After a bit we made it back the chateau, and we all headed to the back porch. We all sat and talked for a while Kiara played the bongos. Eventually John B spoke up and said he was calling everything off. Sheriff Peterkin had offered John B a deal, if he stays out of the marsh, she would help him with DFS.
JJ immediately got heated. "Why would you believe a cop?" They started arguing and John B said, "It would have been a lot easier if you hadn't pulled a gun on Topper." "Was I supposed to let him drown Lyra?" I cringed at the memory of my head being underwater, my lungs burning with water. John B looked at me, "He wouldn't have drowned her."
