I woke up to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the briny smell of the ocean filling my nostrils. I got out of the hammock and grabbed my bag out of my car before heading into John B's house. JJ was passed out on the couch, and I heard the shower running. I knocked on the door and John B said to come in. I opened the door and headed to the sink, I heard the shower curtain pull back slightly and I waved in the general direction.
"I figured it was JJ."
"I'm just brushing my teeth and then I'll get out." I brushed my teeth and then told him to take his time because I was going to change in his room really quick. I slipped on a white bikini and then a white and blue romper over the top. I slipped on my white converse and braided my hair into a simple braid. Per usual I also had my bracelet and necklace on, I never took them off.
I heard the shower turn off and after a minute John B knocked on the door asking if he could come in. I was just putting on some deodorant and lotion, so I told him he was all good. He was already dressed and came in just so he could slip on some shoes. "Where are you heading to?" I asked him.
"I've gotta return the scuba gear to the Cameron's boat. What are your plans for the day?"
"I think I'm going to walk around, see more of the island and everything." It was really early, so I figured I could just walk my way to Heywards and work later on. I gave John B a small smile as we headed our separate ways. I stopped by my car and grabbed some earphones out, I put them in and turned on some music.
I hadn't had time the past few days to really take everything in. I had finally escaped from my living nightmare. I had a group of friends who I would fight for and in return they would fight for me, I know they would. I had never had that before. I had so much pent-up rage and sadness, that as soon as I turned on my music, I couldn't help but feel a little freer.
My pace picked up and I soon was jogging, I had no goal in mind. I just needed a release of some sort. I jogged down the road, taking in all of the damage Hurricane Agatha had caused. Broken trees, buildings, docks, and even boats. There was wreckage everywhere. I jogged until I got to a place where there wasn't as much wreckage. The broken homes turned into mansions.
I jogged until I saw a little girl crying in front of a dock. Sarah was talking with her, and I approached them both, I had no hate for Sarah, she was kind to me. I felt like I owed her a thank you for basically defending me at the country club.
"You left her on the boat?" Sarah asked the girl. The girl nodded in response. "Can you tell me what she looks like?" Sarah noticed me approaching them.
"She has a trunk and blue ears." The girl said. I gave a smile to Sarah and then the little girl. "Hey, Sarah. I owe you an apology and a thank you." "I've gotta go get her stuffed animal, and then maybe we can talk."
"How about I go get it and then we go out for lunch?" I ask her. "The electricity may still be on though." "I'll be okay." "Then we have a deal," Sarah said smiling at me. I noticed Topper, Kelce, and another blonde standing and watching me. I carefully walked across a knocked down pole, dodging the wires, towards the boat.
