20 years later

Lexi Rodriguez - Miller was being walked through the street by the FEDRA soldiers after she picked a fight with someone. Joel watched as she walked by, and he either looked disappointed or kinda proud. Lexi could never tell the difference even though she's been married to him for 10 years. Rosa went with Tommy after a bit of time. The four spent years together, then they separated. Joel and Lexi met Frank, Bill, and Tess in the first few years of the apocalypse. Tess and Lexi got on very quickly, and Joel was happy that Lexi was finally letting people into her life after losing Sarah and Rosa leaving with Tommy. Lexi made a name for herself with the FEDRA'S as she would fight people in backstreets a lot. This was a therapeutic thing she did when Sarah was on her mind or Rosa because she still doesn't know if Rosa is safe or not. She also would fight people who harass women because she'll never forget what Rosa told her that night. Joel and Lexi got married after 10 years of being stuck together. It wasn't a big ceremony, but Tommy and Rosa weren't there, so they had only Frank, Bill, and Tess there to see it. Joel struggles to get along with people besides Lex, of course. He was heartbroken after losing Sarah, and if he never wants to go through that again so the only people he can trust are Lexi, Tess, Bill, and Frank. Now it was only Tess, Lexi, and Joel as Bill and Frank stayed together and didn't leave with the trio.

"Lexi Rodriguez - Miller, this is the 3 times this month. wanna explain what happened this time?" The FEDRA captain asked the women in black who just sat there with a deadly expression. "He was trying to creep up on a woman." Lexi explained to the captain. "Lexi, we appreciate your help, but if you want to help without getting arrested, then maybe think about applying for..." Lexi cut him off because she would never want to join the FEDRA'S. "No, absolutely not," She tilted her head to the side while the soldier gave her an unimpressed look. "There's a difference between what I do and what you do you guys only care about if someone takes a bit too much food at the markets you don't care what happens in the alleyways or what happens in behind closed doors," She paused for a moment. "Children are being harassed young women are as well and your doing nothing about it so fuck you guys I will never join the FEDRA'S." Lexi finished and a soldier entered the room. "Joel Miller has just barged in wanting to see his wife and take her home captain." A FEDRA soldier said. Lexi smirked at the pair of soldiers. 'Classic Joel' she thought while the captain sat there and thought of what they would have to pay for Lexi being arrested. "Alright, she can go, but if we see you either of you Miller's outside the walls, there will be a bigger consequence you understand Lexi?" The soldier asked, and all Lexi did was nod at him, and then she was guided out by the other soldier.

Joel looked at his wife who exited the interrogation room and all that was on Lexi's face was anger. The couple made it onto the streets that were patrolled by FEDRA soldiers and Joel grabbed Lexi's shoulder causing her to stop and look straight into his eyes. "Lex you need to stop getting into trouble I can't keep doing this because they've already made us give up certain rations and now they won't let us leave the area." Lexi looked into her disappointed husband's eyes and started to feel a wash of guilt. "I'm sorry Joel I just want to do what's right and the FEDRA soldiers aren't doing anything about it," Lexi said her voice cracking a little as tears started to form in her eyes. Joel grabbed the back of her neck and pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead. They stayed like that for a few minutes before heading back to their shithole of an apartment. Once they made it in and sat down on the sofa the pair got when they moved there Lexi decided to start a normal discussion with Joel about his day. "So how was work?" "It was alright," The two decided to go to sleep in their room because of their long days.

The couple woke up to a timer going off coming from the kitchen. Tess was stood in the kitchen turning off the timer when she heard the pair walk in. "Mornin Tess" Lexi said stretching. "Morning," Tess replied to the other women as the three of them sat down together.  "Hey Tess is your eye okay," Joel asked which made Lexi look in her eyes and saw a bruise. "Yeah I'm fine just some of Robert's guys and they sold our battery to someone else," Lexi's hand bawled into a fist and both Tess and Joel noticed. "Shit like this gonna happen so we shake it off. We go get our cards back or the battery." Anger was written all over Lexi's face her hands now clenched onto the table. "Where's Robert?" Lexi asked grabbing her weapon from against the wall. "I don't know but we'll find him. I promised him Joel wouldn't hurt him because he's scared shitless of him. But I never said you wouldn't." Lexi and Joel finished getting their things from the rooms. "Let's go get our battery and go get Tommy and Rosa.
