Present Day

"DO you know where we are?" Joel asked Henry since they'd been walking for a few hours now, through the tunnels. "Yeah the other side." They walked in silence for a bit. Lexi and Joel walking side by side holding hands but in silence. They hadn't really gotten over what Henry told them in the settlement. Joel was thinking about family and how he only has Tommy, Rosa, Lexi and now he is starting to grow onto Ellie too, and he can't lose them. "No one is here and no one's gonna be here because my plan worked." Joel was snapped out of his thoughts by Henry's confident voice, maybe it did work and they were finally in the clear. "So much goddamn talkin." Joel complained and Lexi chuckled. "Make this right, go down the street. Embankment behind the last house and we're out." Seemed easy enough. "So we cross the river and then what. Where are you gonna go?" Ellie asked. "Don't know yet." "Well we're going to Wyoming." Joel and Lexi both whipped around and looked at Ellie with the same warning on their faces. "What? It's a huge state! It can fit three more people if we squash together." She protested. Henry chuckled at Ellie's nature. "Yeah.. maybe we just call this one a success and say our fond fair wells." "No he'll change his mind, this is how it always goes. He's like, no Ellie never, ever, ever happening." Lexi let out a short cackle at Ellie's impression of Joel. "And then I'm like I'm gonna ask you a million more times and he's like-." Ellie was cut off by gunshots and everyone crouched, Lexi dragged Sam down with her and Ezra did the same thing on his other shoulder. "Move! Move!" Joel pushed it everyone behind a car looking over to see the glare of the gun. "Ellie you good? Is anyone hit?" Lexi called out, looking at everyone for injuries. "Ok, good because my hands are far due to sutures right now!" Henry, Sam and Ezra began running but turned back when they were nearly stuck down by the sniper. "What do we do?" Henry asked. 

"Alright stay here." "What?" Lexi and Ellie said in sync, the former's tone being in anger. "If you don't move he's not gonna hit you, I'm gonna go round and try to get into the house through the back and try and take him out. "The hell you are! You move your ass from this car he'll knock you down." Lexi scolded slapping Joel on the back of his head. "You ain't moving from behind this goddamn rusted car. Cowboy, you hear me." She grabbed his wrist. "It's dark and he has shitty aim, nobody will kill me." he deadpanned. "Then he'll kill us." Ellie said, her tone was shaky. She was worried. She had every right to be. "Do you trust me?" Ellie nodded, the question was purely directed to Ellie. Lexi knew he could hold his own but she was stressed as hell. "I'll be back don't worry." Lexi grabbed his face. "Good, you ain't leaving me that easy cowboy." She pressed a kiss to his lips, in this moment she didn't care who saw. She nervously had a hold of her pistol as Joel ran. After a few minutes, the shooting ceased. "You good?" Lexi responded was shut off by a gunshot, no further. "Fuck." She hissed, but realized there was no further shots. "Run! Run!" She heard Joel yell. Lexi grabbed Ellie's wrist and dragged her in front, the pair of them speeding ahead with Sam, Ezra and Henry in tow. "Stop shooting your damn gun and run Ellie!" Lexi ordered, slipping down with Ellie, crashing on top of her. "Get up. Get up. Ellie up. Now!" There was an explosion and Lexi and Ellie fell again, feeling Henry grab Ellie as they hid behind a car. "You two okay?" Henry asked and Lexi nodded. "Dead end Henry. You wanna step out now? Save us some time." Lexi held onto Sam's hand, she didn't know what she was feeling. But she sure as hell was scared. They were severely outgunned, if Lexi stood up she'd be gunned down in seconds. "I'll come out just let the rest of them go!" Henry tried to reason. 

"No. Sorry. The girl is with the man who killed Bryan and the women took out five of our guys. And Sam... Well Sam is with you." Lexi let out a low 'fuck' as she realized they knew who she was. "You don't understand!" Henry objected. "But I do! I know why you did what you did. But if you ever stop to think that maybe he was suppose to die?" Lexi's stomach flipped at this, she was scared before but now all she was feeling was rage. "He's a fucking kid!" Henry yelled. "Kids die, the die all the time. You think the whole world revolves around him? That he's worth... everything? Well this is what happens when you fuck with fate." "Your monologue is really pissing me off lady. You think the whole world revolves around you and your stupid brother and your ass of clan of asshole guns. I lost a girl who was like a daughter to me, it's the hardest most painful thing in the world. But you don't have to do this, imagine the pain you felt for your brother? Wanna inflict that on someone else? No amount of revenge is gonna bring your brother back." Lexi spat at the women from behind the car. "Get ready to take him and run." Ellie shook her head. "Yes, Lexi go with them. Do it." "It's time Henry! Enough!" Henry took some deep breath before he stood up from the car with his hands up. "Fuck this." Lexi said before standing up with Henry, she knew Joel was pissed off at her. "You motherf-" There was a loud rumbling and the truck creaked. Lexi reloaded her gun and watched as the truck fell into the hole in the ground. Distant snarls came closer and closer as hundreds of infected came running out of the hole. "Run! Ellie! Sam! Ezra! Henry! Run now go!" Lexi took some headshots to the clickers, watching as Ellie got into a truck.
