THE group made it out of the rundown building. Joel was now with Lexi hand in hand while Ellie and Tess were behind them a bit as the couple scouted the area. "We should get movin." Joel demanded and a few moments later Ellie and Tess were making their way in front of the married couple. "The state house is across there. It's a ten-minute walk if you go straight." Tess explained, both Tess and Joel were better at directions than Lexi was. "It's the long way or the short way." Joel mumbled under his breath. "I mean. It's the long way or the real fuckin dead way." Tess deadpanned what Joel originally said. "Well I vote long way based on that limited information." Ellie butted yet again another sassy comment in. "I gotta agree with the kid there to be honest." Lexi agreed with Ellie and Joel just looked at her. They walked towards the hotel through cafe's and even the highway. "You like her don't you?" Joel asked to his wife and Lexi just smiled in return. "Yeah she's alright I mean she hasn't tried anything yet so I don't see why we shouldn't trust her. What about you old man huh you like her?" The brunette asked her husband nudging him slightly. "No." Joel answered very quickly and Lexi smirked knowing that she was going to start growing on him. "What?" Joel asked the smirking women who just laughed. "Your a dickhead you know that." Joel said slightly laughing with her. "Yeah I know, must be why you married me Miller huh." Lexi replied as she grabbed his hand giving it a squeeze. Ellie looked behind when she heard laughing coming from two people and was surprised to actually see Joel show any other emotion but tough or pissed off, Lexi must have that soft spot on him and that's why he feels safe to do whatever around her.

2013

(during the apocalypse)

Birds were chirping as Cassie stood facing a mirror straightening her dress that Frank had found in a shop and let her use. It was a plain white dress nothing too much going on and she had a white flower crown over her head. Bill and Joel were doing fuck knows what downstairs while Frank was fluffing up Lexi's hair. Joel asked Lexi to marry him in 2012 and since then they haven't had time to get married till now. "Where did Rosa go?" Lexi asked the man helping her get ready. "Oh she wanted to see you as a surprise so she's drinking wine with Tommy and Tess outside." "I just think something's gonna go wrong. I just have that feeling in my gut that something bads gonna happen." Lexi explained but didn't wanna use a horde of clickers as an example but Frank knew what she was on about. "You'll be fine. I felt nervous when I married Bill but look where we are now." Frank explained to the brunette women sat in a chair in front of him. Lexi turned to Frank with a worried look on her face. "Frank, what if Joel doesn't wanna marry me. What if he runs away and never comes back." Lexi's eyes began to water wish tears. "Oh Lexi come here." Frank pulled the brunette women into his arms and they stayed like that for a while. "He never would, he's a good man your Joel." "He's the best." Lexi replied to the man as she took his hand ready to go downstairs. Tommy and Rosa were at the bottom of the stairs walking with a wine glass in each of their hands laughing at what one of them said. Suddenly all attention from the pair drew to Lexi and Frank walking down the stairs. "Sis looking good if I say so myself. What do you think Tommy?" Rosa said while she nudged Tommy telling him to say her older sister looked nice. "You look great Lex." Tommy said smiling as Lexi returned one to him. The group made it to the dining room where Tess and Bill were sat waiting. Lexi's eyes were drawn to the man stood up in one corner of the room. She knew it was Joel, her Joel. "Joel, you gonna turn around mate?" Tommy asked as Joel turned to see the women he always loved since the first time she moved in. Her eyes shined and those brown eyes of hers light up Joel's life in an instance. "Lex, you look amazing." Joel finally spoke and made Lexi start to blush. The two finally stood in front of each other Lexi taking Joel's hands in her own. "Your not to bad yourself cowboy." Lexi replied back making Tommy chuckle while sat down beside them. "Shut up Tommy." Joel called out to his brother who just looked at the younger Rodriguez who smirked back at him. "Now you're vows." Frank spoke and the couple just paused because they didn't have any vows planned so they just had to improvise.
