A table full of confectionary. Or maybe it's a table full of fruit platters. Nonetheless it is sure to be a table full of snacks and warmhearted laughter as they dine together as a family. A dining hall that has no place for someone like me.
What was it. What did I lack for father to do such a thing just for him to be happy again. Not like thinking about it now will change anything. It's done. There's no going back to the past. The Henituse is now a family of 5.

"Young master, dinner is ready."
Cale turned to stare at Ron, "Tell father I'm sleeping and wake me up once they're done eating," he then turned his back and lifted the blanket to his chest.
"Understood," Ron said before he left the room.
The thump of the door echoed through the hallway. Almost all the servants are in or near the dining room to serve the family currently dining in it. Except for him that is.
Cale Henituse. He was a kind boy who stuck to his mother as if leaving her will be the end of the world. Always smiling and playing. You could never think the same boy he just talked to awhile ago was the same Cale.
Was Beacrox like that too when we left the family. I can no longer remember. I worked day and night trying to find a way for us to survive... but one thing is for sure. I never went through a day without letting him know how important he is and how much I love him.

"Beacrox do you have enough ingredients for a pie?"
"We do have some apple's left from last week," answered Beacrox.
"Can you make a quick pie for the young master about palm sized should do."
"I can but itll take some time."
"Don't worry, they probably won't finish eating anytime soon and the young master take's quite the long time to finish the main course let alone he hasn't even started eating, so take your time," Ron said with a benign smile as he left the kitchen.
Beacrox was left there to wonder what his father meant by that.
Isnt Cale eating in the dining room with his family?

"Young master, its time to wake up."
The red head merely squirmed at the butler.
"Young master, you wont dare to miss dinner right?"
Cale didn't move a muscle.
"I guess if you miss it ill have to double the amount of lemonade tomorrow-" Cale swiftly sat up- "to give you the nutrients you need," ended Ron with a benign smile.
"But it seems that won't be needed anymore," he said as his eyes shaped into crescents.
Cale merely gave a pout and proceeded to get off the bed.

Eating alone was something Cale got used to when his mother died. The way his hands move to cut the food to right size and to chewing it just enough for him not to choke. It was normally a swift process but the moment the red head saw the dessert, time stopped for him.
An apple pie. Pies were something that never left the table every time he and his mother went to eat snacks after playing. Sometimes it was cherry and at times it was blueberry nevertheless pie never left the table.

"Cale is the apple pie tasty?" asked his mother.
"Yes!"
"Hmm, do you think this is what an apple pie should look like?"
"Well, aren't apples red?"
His mother grinned at him, "That's right but the apple pie tastes delicious right?"
Cale nodded at her question and took another bite of the pie.
"Cale did you know I sometimes think of you as an apple?"
"But I don't look like an apple!"
"Hehe but your hair sure is a similar shade to it," she smiled.
"Did you know almost every single child when presented with a fruit will think the outside is the same color as the inside? Like how blueberries are both blue inside and out and how strawberries are red. But of course, not all fruits are like that. Like kiwi, watermelon, and apples. Which is why most kids get disappointed when they see the inside because they wanted it to be the same color as the outside.
Cale when you grow up. I don't care if you turn grouchy, flirty, or become as silent as a rabbit. As long as your surrounded by people who understand and love you for your true colors and not by the colors you show on the outside. That is enough for me. Because all I want is for everyone to know how kind and great my son is."
She smiled at Cale as she looked at her precious son with all the love she can show on her face and Cale returned it in equal measure.
***
Cale savored the apple pie. With every bite making him reminisce of the time's he ate with his mother.
If Cale was crying while eating the apple pie, then that's a secret Ron will carry to his grave.
