your mouth opens, but no words seem to come out — you're speechless, just speechless.
seishiro must be quite depressed by this topic, he wouldn't talk to you like that again. "why are you doing this? you can't just do it for the money" you manage to get something out of your dry mouth.
you don't really sound strong, and he notices that. closing his eyes, seishiro runs his hand through his soft hair and sighs deeply. "you're right" he throws his head back.
it seems like he's wrestling with himself whether he should tell you or not.
at the sight of him, you would like to take him in your arms, but the timing isn't right.
"seishiro" you start, but his quivering voice and half-stepped sentences prevent you from finishing your words.
"i love it, okay? i love fighting! not because i like punching people in the mouth, just because it's the only thing i know how to do that i'm good at." his shoulders slump, his entire aura changes.
he's no longer the dreaded sei who fights underground and shows no mercy. he's seishiro, who must have experienced something that made him who he is. despite that, he's still the same old him inside, except that you don't know anything about the old him, unfortunately.
"that's not true" you don't know what to say.
nodding in denial seishiro laughs softly and your heart tightens — you would never have thought that he really thinks of himself that way.
breathing you look at him almost pleadingly in the eyes. "please talk to me"
the white haired looks at you silently for a few seconds, no emotion in his eyes, before he nods and leads you back to the bed.
placing you on the bed, seishiro pulls you close to his body so that you lay your head on his chest and he begins to run through your hair and play with it.
"fighting is all i have left." the vulnerability behind his voice worries you.
not knowing what is to come is a feeling that scares you; you're afraid of the truth, afraid of what has happened to him.
"my family is like yours. respected and wealthy. i was never the way they wanted me to be, i always preferred to do what i felt like doing and that didn't suit my mother in particular," he presses a kiss on your forehead, notices that you're tense and wants to calm you down. "at some point they kicked me out, more likely i ran away, after a big fight where they criticized me again. i don't even know what it was about anymore, but i was so sick of it," he spits out the words, the hatred towards his parents is clear in his voice. "my sister was always their favorite, she was the way they wanted her to be. they were probably even happy that i was finally gone."
unconsciously you grab his hand, holding it tightly. your eyes have filled with tears, which is why your vision is already blurry and you blink permanently.
you don't want to cry, but you just can't imagine how cruel it must have been for him.
slowly he breathes in and out. "for a few days i stayed with friends, but when they found out what happened, they pushed me away just like my own parents and sister"
a small tear finds its way out of your eyes and drips onto seishiro's chest. "and then i came across reo and he took me in, theoretically. he was the first one to understand me."
you're shocked, but on the other hand also relieved that he has opened up to you.
this is a sign that he trusts you, isn't it?
but why do you have the feeling that he has forgotten a big piece of the puzzle and is still keeping it secret?
but as they say.. the truth always comes out.
[ some days later ]
"who are you calling?," you're confused as you sit at the dining table with your brother yoichi and have breakfast with him. he doesn't answer you, seems too engrossed in his phone and sticks a forkful of pancake in his mouth. "hello dumbass, i'm talking to you!" you hit him on the back of the head, which makes him choke on his pancake and start coughing.
he looks at you with a nasty look, but then just rolls his eyes, apparently not in the mood to chase you all over the house. "i'm throwing a pool party saturday night. that's why i'm calling everyone right now." he explains to you and you nod, already knowing that you're going to go there together with suzume.
and you also know that meguru will be there, trying to flirt with you — he's a completely different person when he's drunk.
"yoichi?," you run after your brother, who is walking through the long corridor to the gym. once again barely paying attention to you, only a simple 'mmh' comes out of his mouth, which is enough for you to know that he is listening to you. "can i please take someone to your party? please yoi." using his nickname as an extra, you look at him as sweetly as you can as he turns to you with his arms crossed.
ever since he allowed you to take a friend and then she puked on him because she drank too much, you haven't been allowed to take anyone, except suzume of course.
but that was 2 years ago and you just hope he forgot about it.
yoichi trusts you, can't resist your doggy eyes anyway, so he nods in surrender. he doesn't like strangers coming onto his property, but with the belief that you're just bringing suzume, he doesn't worry about it anymore.
except that he doesn't know that you won't be bringing a her only, but seishiro too, who doesn't like yoichi at all.
so the drama is preprogrammed.
