you have to admit that meguru is really trying hard. he seems to really try everything to get you into his arms, where he wanted you for a long time.

but you can't feel empathy towards him after everything he did to suzume, seishiro and you, maybe never.

meguru is and always has been a not-so-good person, an egoist and incredibly self-absorbed. he always wanted to be better than everyone else, had to be superior to his friends and his own cousin in everything.

the feeling of being better or worth more makes him happy and gives him adrenaline — a competition in which he fights against himself.

"you're pretty preoccupied tonight, pretty" he notes. once again, he's been watching you closely and studying your every posture, so he knows exactly that something's wrong with you.

it could be that he's asking out of kindness, or it could be an inconspicuous warning behind it, which should make it clear to you to give him your attention. but probably, he already knows what you're thinking about and just wants to hear it from your own mouth.

"i'm thinking about you. about how you're not a good person and how you owe a lot of people," you say honestly, not daring to look at him.

there is silence, meguru is thinking about your words and what he should say. the only thing that disturbs the silence is your shoes on the polished floor, in which you could already see yourself reflected.

you've just come home to him after being at the cinemas. two hours of pure boredom, during which you almost fell asleep every now and then, if it weren't for meguru, who always started a conversation with you right then.

"would you like something to drink, y/n?" he's icily ignoring what you said, as he arrives in the huge kitchen, which could already be an entire apartment. bright tones and outrageously expensive furniture, all made of marble. many lights illuminate the room and dazzle you.

it seems to you as if they would swallow you up.

"no" mumbling you sit down on a high chair at the kitchen island.

in the meantime, he prepares a margarita, already had the ingredients made. the smell of tequila hits your nose as he starts to mix it with orange liqueur and lime juice. this drink would probably be way too strong for you, but meguru loves this taste and can take a lot.

"you know, it hurts me to see you like this, y/n. it's been a few weeks since seishiro and yet you're still mourning him and not giving me a chance to prove myself," he sips his glass and then licks his lips, which start to shine.

you have to admit that his lips look pretty soft and he's certainly a damn good kisser.

in a way, he is right; you're not over seishiro yet, and that will certainly take some time. but that last spark of hope won't allow you to let him go and forget. you still hope that he'll come back to you and you'll find each other. but even if he wants you back, he won't come, because in his eyes, it was the right decision.

"a few weeks isn't a long time, meg. i realized that you haven't had any experience with something like this, if you even have the heart to really love. so just stop talking," hissing you climb down from the chair, don't feel like being in his presence anymore.

he keeps proving to you what an asshole he is and you can't stand his presence anymore.

hate is a big word, but you hate him, right?

"you're wrong, y/n. i know how to love. because i love you. my heart wanted only you for years. understand that it's hard for me when someone you've known for a shorter time than me comes along and steals your heart, which i wanted for so long."
