(A little more Jevon (and OBVIOUSLY PLATONIC Jalex)..)

With Lexy gone, everything feels different.

Every time I get bored, I can't go into her room and bother her, anymore.

Earlier today when I went in there, just for a moment, Devon caught me.

I opened the door quietly and snuck inside. Maybe whatever is in here could help me figure out why she did what she did.

I walk around her room, studying all of her posters, pictures, notebooks, etc.

I didn't hear any footsteps, or the door open again. I picked up a notebook, and after a few seconds, I opened it.

I flipped the page and slowly began reading.

"What are you doing?" A voice asks, causing me to jump, and drop the notebook.

I spin around to see Devon, leaning on the door frame, arms crossed, and against his chest. He's wearing a grey hoodie and black sweatpants. He looks very tired and worn out. Must be from all the stress.

"I- I was just-" I start to defend.

Devon steps into the room, more. The atmosphere suddenly gets weird, and I begin to awkwardly shift on the balls of my feet.

"You were just...?" He asks, dragging out the sentence, waiting for me to answer him.

"I was just- looking around," I say.

"Did you leave something in here?"

It's clear he wants me to give him a specific reason, but I'm not sure why I'm here to begin with.

"I wanted to see if she- maybe had a reason for what she did.." I tell him.

I suddenly feel very warm, and my face gets hot with embarrassment.

"Oh... Okay." Devon mutters, hands falling to his side.

After a brief pause, he steps closer to me, and wraps his arms around me, pulling me in for a hug.

"I'm sorry, Jake.." He whispers, voice breaking.

I quickly hug him back, holding on to him.

"I can't imagine this has been any easier for you." I say, "She was also your best friend."

"Yeah, I know.." He says, pulling away.

When he does, I realize he is crying, and quickly wipe his tears with my thumbs.

"Come on, you look tired." I wrap my arm around his shoulders and lead him to my room.

Now, Devon is asleep beside me. His eyes shut tight and his lips slightly parted as he quietly snores. I glance away from my phone to check he's sleeping, still. I run my hand through his hair gently, letting my fingers pull on his curls.

His face scrunches and he quietly grunts before turning over to face the window. He cuddles up under my blankets, and I smile at him.

I could never do this without him.

I wouldn't know how to live without Devon in my life. He's one of the greatest things that ever happened to me. I love his smile, his laugh, his kindness, his big heart, how caring he is, and how much he loves me... I love all of him.

Having him in my life, kissing him that day on our bikes...

Every time I look at him it's a reminder that I did the right thing.

I love him.

And that will always be the right thing to do. He mumbles incoherent words in his sleep and presses his head deeper into the pillow.

I turn back to my phone with a huge smile on my face.

I love Devon Evans.....
