Chapter eighteen

"Hello, Jake.. You gave us all quite a scare!" The nurse said, letting go of his hand. She had a huge smile on her face, and her high, loud voice made Jake cringe.

Jake recognizes her as the woman who walked into the infirmary before he blacked out.

"I haven't seen you around here, before. You've never been to the infirmary, have you?" She asks, reaching for something.

Jake shakes his head as their eyes stay on the woman's moving hand, currently hidden by a table.

She starts standing up and grins. "Let's check your heartbeat, shall we?"

The next day at lunch, Lexy was totally zoned out.

All she could think about was him.

That stupid doll that ruined her life!

She tried to call Jake and Devon last night. But Sunday's phone died, and they didn't want to risk charging it and getting caught.

Suddenly, a loud sound echoed in the cafeteria as Sunday slammed their hand down on the lunch table.

"Come here.. Now!" Sunday grabs Lexy's arm and pulls her away.

"Where are we going?" Lexy asks.

Sunday continued dragging her, not saying a word. Suddenly, they stopped in front of their room.

Sunday swung the door open and ran to her bed as Lexy closed the door.

"What are we doing?" Lexy asks, sitting down in front of Sunday.

"I got a call."

Sunday hands Lexy the phone, and Lexy quickly puts it to her ear as she listens to it ring.

The call is picked up, and Lexy lets out a breath she didn't realize she was holding as the voice spoke.

"Hello?"

"Jake?! Oh my God!! Hi!" Lexy smiles at her brother's voice.

"Oh, hi Lex!" Jake exclaims.

Lexy makes a small hand gesture to Sunday, which makes them get up and leave.

"Um... Jake, we need to talk." Lexy tells him.

"Uh, okay? What about?"

Lexy gulps as she tries to figure out how to word this.

"Is Devon there?" She asks.

She hears a small hum on the other end and a small click.

"You're on speaker," Jake announces after a few seconds of silence.

"Okay, please don't freak out, or anything like that. I've already been." Lexy states.

"What's wrong?" Devon asks.

Lexy suddenly feels the panic rise to her chest and she inhales sharply.

"It's fucking insane!" Lexy yells. "Everything is wrong! I mean- don't get me wrong, my whole situation is fucked.. But this is even worse! I thought we were done, and I thought we wouldn't have to deal with this anymore.." Lexy cries.

Lexy breathes heavily for a second before she continues. "I didn't think I'd be in this situation anymore. I can't lose any more people. I already lost so much! I can't lose these new friends or you guys." Lexy sobs.

"Lexy! Slow down!" Jake yells.

"What happened?" Devon asks.

"Chucky.." Lexy breathes, "He's back.."
