The rest of the day was pretty slow. Not much happened, we watched a movie before bed. Chloe awoke from another nightmare though.
"Hey hey hey. You're ok." I said, trying to calm her.
She was hugging me, and her grip grew tighter as I talked.
"I hate these dreams." She gasped.
"Me too."
Her cries slowly softened as she fell back asleep in my embrace. I slowly lowered her back down on her side of the bed. I decided to get up and head to our bathroom. I shut the door behind me and turn on the lights. It didn't take long for my eyes to readjust to the light, but as I looked in the mirror, two people appeared behind me, from out of nowhere. Chloe and Lydia.
Fucking Mirakuru.
"Tyler. You should find that bastard who scared me and kill him!" The fake Chloe shouted.
"He hurt her and was still mad at you, for no reason." The fake Lydia added on.
These moments were the worst. One of them was easy enough for me to deal with, but both, that took more effort to control, a lot more effort.
"He hurt her, he deserves death. The nightmares aren't slowing down." I said back to them as my anger grew.
"Yes, and those so called friends of yours, they just stood by and watched me." Fake Chloe said.
"They deserved to be punished for their hesitation!" Fake Lydia said.
My grip on the sink grew, I ended up cracking it a bit.
"They just stood there like what was happening was nothing." I said.
"They must be punished." Fake Chloe said.
"And those archers too. They broke into your house and shot you!" Fake Lydia said.
"Roy and Thea will pay." I said.
But before any of us could go on, the door opened up, and a tired Chloe walked in with the blanket tied around her. As soon as I saw her, my anger began to dissipate.
"Did I wake you?" I asked.
My hallucinations were still there, glaring at her. Which was a little weird seeing Chloe glaring at Chloe.
"Yeah." The real Chloe said as she wrapped her arms around me. "But it's ok. So, who did you see this time?"
"Both of them."
Chloe began to rub my back, helping me calm down.
"Well just remember, I'm fine, there is no need for vengeance, and no reason to get angry." She said right before she saw my grip still on the sink. "Did you break the sink again?"
"Yeah, sorry."
"I am so glad we buy the cheap material." Chloe chuckled.
She understood that controlling the Mirakuru was extremely hard, so she never complained. She knows how overwhelming it can get in my head, and I understand how overwhelming it can get in her head. Not just with her horrible past with clowns, well, one clown in particular, but our time in Nanda Parbat still haunts her. Not as much anymore, but she still has nightmares about everything, almost losing her friend, Lee. Losing her friend, Sam. Almost dying a couple of times. I wasn't that close with Sam, so his death never bothered me that much. But I understand the feeling of losing someone close to you.
"I love you." I said to her, as I released my grip on the sink and wrapped my arms around her.
"I love you too."
