it was a fine afternoon in sumeru city. traders and merchants making offers here and there, travelers wandering around town, students from the akademiya studying outdoors or simply walking around trying to find ideas, and some elderly people or anyone really that were watching the magnificent sunset.
a certain kshahrewar graduate was taking a stroll around the city as he tried to regain himself after arguing with a client. it was a pointless argument, as he himself hadn't even began making what the client wanted, but kaveh—the said kshahrewar graduate—didn't want to just back down. it'd make him look like a coward and he'd rather not seem like so.
a sigh left his lips as he leaned on a railing in the city to view the sunset that was happening. it made him feel at peace. he'd often come out of his and his roommate's quarters to simply gaze at the sky and take a breather after an uncomfortable or unwanted situation.
as he was watching the sunset, he felt a presence beside him. the 'thing' didn't seem to do anything, so kaveh stayed still and kept his eyes at the view whilst his mind went elsewhere.
"i saw the client you argued with," a deep voice which kaveh longed to hear so much said from beside him. "he seemed... distressed."
"did you do something to him?" kaveh asked unamusingly, still not turning his gaze to the man.
alhaitham sighed, "no. why would i anyway? it's not my business."
lies. alhaitham actually watched as kaveh and his client argue and when kaveh left, he talked with his client and pretty much left the client scared for his life.
"hmm," kaveh hummed as he finally turned around to look at him. "what're you doing out here?"
"i happened to pass by and saw the argument," alhaitham said as he moved to lean against the railing. "then i decided to check on you. just in case he hurt you or whatever."
kaveh giggled sarcastically, "so you do care, huh?"
"i simply do not want to be the reason for your unknown and sudden death," alhaitham rolled his eyes. "people would accuse me that i had killed you because the last sightings of you were with me."
"so paranoid," kaveh mumbled quietly as he turned around to look at the sky. it was beginning to darken as the sun had almost completely set.
"why don't we go back?" alhaitham asked after a while. he didn't want to leave kaveh behind, he wanted to make sure he made it safely back home and not get ambushed by people from his angered and scared client.
"sure," kaveh replied and walked away before alhaitham did.
alhaitham walked behind kaveh at a rather slow pace, while kaveh walked faster as he just wanted to lay down on his bed. he wasn't really in the mood to do anything as his once wonderful day was ruined by that annoying client.
as soon as kaveh made it to the door of their quarters, he tried to find the duplicate key that alhaitham gave him. unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found in his pockets.
"you left yours at home," alhaitham casually said as he opened the door with his own key, to which kaveh scoffed at.
once the door was opened, kaveh left no time and instantly went to his room. he went in as quick as he opened the door, which left alhaitham standing at the front door confused.
is he alright?
alhaitham went up to kaveh's door and heard nothing but silence from the other side. he wanted to knock on it and check on kaveh, but he knew better than to disturb him. so, he decided to make them dinner for tonight. hopefully, he'll feel better after eating.
