[at mondstadt, fischl's pov]
it was a lovely morning in mondstadt city. the birds were chirping, all kinds of local merchants offering their items for sale, the knights patrolling the city, and more.
fischl was on a walk with oz, her night raven companion. they weren't walking anywhere as they had no purpose, they just wanted to waste their time.
"hey, fischl!" bennett, the adventurer, called as she and oz passed the adventurer's guild.
"greetings," fischl nodded as oz sighed.
"oh, speaking of fischl," katheryne, the receptionist of the adventurer's guild, said. "we have a letter addressed to you."
"you have my utmost thanks," fischl said as she picked up the letter katheryne handed her.
"let's find a place to read it, shall we?" oz asked as he led the two to the good hunter after fischl said her goodbyes to bennett and katheryne.
fischl opened the letter and inspected it carefully. she couldn't really understand as it wasn't written in the language she's used to.
"let me read it for you, milady."
after oz translated it to her words, she looked up at him in surprise. she decided to drop the act and tried to speak like how normal people would.
"he's still alive?!" fischl widened her eyes.
"yes, milady," oz nodded.
"...and he still remembers me?" fischl wondered out loud.
"apparently so," oz agreed.
"and he wants to visit the land of mondstadt to see me? fischl, prinzessin der verurteilung?" fischl continued.
"yes," oz agreed once again. "however, i think you'll have to learn how to stop the princess persona, mein fräulein. remember how your brother would laugh at you back then?"
fischl's thoughts went back to her younger self. she remembered how her family was supportive of her obsession with fantasy novels and called her 'fischl', as it was the name of the princess in her favorite novel. unfortunately, on her fourteenth birthday her friends and her mother told her to quit dreaming and continue living life realistically. that was when she got her vision, alongside oz.
kaveh had already moved to sumeru with another family relative when fischl was still young. that was why they weren't that close with each other.
after their father's death and their mother's disappearance, kaveh would often visit mondstadt, even if he was busy with his studies. he learned that fischl's princess persona had made her the fischl everyone knew as of today. he certainly found it strange and would laugh about it at first, but nonetheless he was still proud of his sister no matter what.
when kaveh's studies got tougher, he had to stop visiting mondstadt. he wasn't able to visit fischl in a very long time, and he never told her why. he just disappeared from her life. that was why getting a letter from him was quite shocking.
"you have a point, oz" fischl sighed as her thoughts came to a halt. "but i, fischl, am still not that capable in speaking such language."
"i will always be here to help you, milady," oz bowed his head down to show his sincerity.
fischl smiled, "very well then. must i send my dearest brother a reply?"
"yes," oz nodded. "let us visit the favonius headquarters' library to borrow a paper and a quill from miss lisa."

a/na little pov on fischl!
i fused kaveh's and fischl's backstory together and it led me to this. might be a little too pushy but i tried lol
if any of you are confused; basically, kaveh left to sumeru when she was young so fischl and him weren't that close with each other, but before he moved they still had time to play together (one of the proofs is how they both made bracelets for each other).
while kaveh was away, fischl stayed with their parents. unfortunately, their father disappeared and was told to be dead while on a mission (maybe for the adventurer's guild, but you can imagine whatever). let's say fischl was just twelve at that time, but you can imagine her at any age as long as it isn't fourteen (as that wouldn't match the storyline). after their father's death, their mother went missing, not a single soul knows where she went.
after both their parents were gone (fischl would be over fourteen), kaveh would visit fischl in mondstadt even if he was busy with his studies in the akademiya. fischl didn't trust him much at first but then they managed to get along not long after. kaveh would laugh at how fischl acted like a princess, but he was still supportive of her.
then, kaveh's studies got even tougher so he wasn't able to visit fischl as much as he used to before. kaveh wanted to write her letters, but he just couldn't. he disappeared from her life all so suddenly, and fischl couldn't help but wonder why but she didn't interfere further.
and now, kaveh finally sent her a letter and it shocked fischl, but nonetheless she was very glad to know that kaveh was still alive and still remembers her.
dunno if that makes sense but yeah <3 thanks for reading this part i guess, it took me a lot of brains to make some sense haha
anywayyyy i'm sorry for not updating for two weeks, i sort of lost motivation but after reading the comments i got made me want to continue!!
i'm already working on the next chapter, hopefully it'll be published in a few more days! until then ^^
