DEVYN ABSOLUTELY HATED GROUP PROJECTS. These past two days have been an absolute nightmare for her. Even though she didn't meet up with her partners for the project yesterday, due to their conflicting schedules, she did make sure to text and email both of her partners multiple book ideas, with the themes and structures.

The issue she was currently having was that she hasn't heard anything from her partners. They haven't responded to her emails, or her multiple text messages—that she sent out every other hour. They had left the student-athlete all on her own, forcing her to try to get everything together and finished today before the group were set to present.

As she rested her head in her hands, and slowly massaging her temples to ease the forming headache, Devyn couldn't help but huff out a sigh. She was frustrated and tired. Not only did she have to finish the project tonight, alone, but she also had other assignments that she had to finish.

"Is it too late for me to drop out?" She questioned out loud, speaking to no one in particular. As she raised her head up from her hands, looking around the kitchen of her uncle's home, her eyes briefly bounced between the four college students in the kitchen with her.

Occupying the two chairs at the island was Keisha and Nate. While her cousin ignored her, use to her baby cousin uttering those words whenever she got tired of doing homework, Nate could only shake her head and giggle at the sprinter.

Sitting at the round wooden dining table with her, and focused on their own project, were Damon and Simone. As Simone shook her head at her newly acquired friend, Damon—just sent his friend a small smile before answering her. "Yes, it's too late."

Huffing out sigh once more, Devyn dropped her hands on top of the mess she had made—which consisted of different notebooks and paper, and stared at her laptop screen. Even though she got majority of this project done, she still needed help finishing it. "Keish, can you help me?"

"Yeah, give me a second." Her cousin answered, which had Devyn immediately thanking her. "Did you at least let Professor Corte know that you are working on this project by yourself?"

"I emailed him, but he has replied to my email, so." Briefly shrugging her shoulders as she moved to now rest her head against her palm, she released yet another sigh from her lips as she switched her focus from the project to another assignment she had due tomorrow.

With her tuning out the small, and brief conversation between Damon and Simone, the sound of the doorbell echoing throughout the entire house pulled her focus towards her cousin. "Can you, please?" Keisha questioned, not wanting to move.

"Sure." Happy to get away from doing any type of homework at the moment, Devyn briefly pushed her chair back before standing up, and exited the kitchen. As she made her way through the foyer, the sound of the doorbell ringing again had rolling her eyes. "I'm coming!"

Unlocking the front door, and opening it, the college-athlete came face to face with JR—and a group of random folks she never seen. "Uh, hey?"

"Devyn." With him flashing her that perfect smile of his, JR briefly took in the student-athlete before him—before meeting her gaze. "Can we come in?"

"Y-yeah." Stuttering a bit as heat rushed to her face, Devyn stepped to the side, bowing her head just a bit as she motioned for him and his friends to come inside. As he uttered a thank you in his direction, the track runner briefly took noticed at how many people were outside before closing the door—and followed after JR.
